Rear rotor gets hot, what's wrong?

I just bought a 3rd gen VFR. The rear brakes seem to have little power and they get the rotor very hot.

I noticed the rotor is slightly warped and has some grooving. I've ordered a used rotor that has no grooves or warping.

I'm guessing the warping was caused by lack of pads. Should I grab a new set of pads, as well?

 

Oh yeah. Dont f up your new rotor. Get a set of pads.

New pads are in order as well as a close inspection of the caliper and the caliper mount. Be sure the caliper moves easily in the slides and they are well lubricated , the boots are in good shape, and the caliper will center on the disk freely. Just a bit of corrosion will toss the whole thing in the toilet.

 

You may be dragging a pad on the rotor & causing heat to build up. needs cleaning & maybe honing out the calipers. maybe a return spring - if there is such a thing. once fixed, you will probably enjoy a new sensation of exceleration. :thumbsup:
