25th?? Have you considered birth control?

Vegas may be a bit much to take in all in one whack. Maybe one of the casinos in Washington? Lots of geezer rock and really funny Don Rickles androids.

Randy, this is the place if she wants Wal-Mart. There's gotta be 20 of 'em here all within an hour drive of each other! Prolly 20 Home Depots as well. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a "little" but there are so many duplicate stores, it's crazy.

Randy will have to ride about 60 miles outside Las Vegas to get some of that real Nevada fun. I wonder if WalMart and Homer's have slots?

As of this weekend I now have 27,062 miles. Friday night, I rode out to Pasadena and met up with some other friends who rode out from Vegas. We met there because that's where we were staying. From Pasadena, Saturday morning, we rode to Santa Monica/Malibu and took Topanga Canyon Rd. to Old Topange Canyon Rd. to Mulholland Dr. We stopped at the famous Rock Store, then rode the snake, continue on up through Ojai, then to Santa Barbara, had a late lunch, then rode back to Pasadena. I have a couple pics, but am waiting for some others. I will post all pics in a few days. All in all it was a blast!!

Awesome! This is what bikes are made for - to RIDE! I'd love to do some riding out west someday, you've got some beautiful scenery and wide open spaces out there. Love the pics!

I put 24K on my '85 700 Interceptor in one (short Ohio) summer... thanks to No-Doze, about 20 friends who loved to ride all day and night, and the fact that the miles add up faster at triple-digit rates! ;-) Didn't hurt that I was only 21 years old then - lots of energy and no need to sleep!

That's a LOT of riding!! Hey, anytime you wanna come out this way, let us all know... I'm sure you'd have plenty of people to ride with and stay with!! BTW, I love your name. I'm a Mopar girl myself and used to own a 1973 'Cuda 340 back in the early 90s. :flame::flame:

As promised, here are some pics from the ride this weekend, but first, a little background. I was invited by a Motorcycle Club called the Vegas Knights. There were about 15 of them and they all took Friday off from work and headed out. I couldn't take off work, so I left after work, about 6pm. There are a couple of passes on the way from Vegas to the coast and I encountered temps ranging from 30 degrees to the low 70s. Over the last pass, Cajon (pronounced Ca-HOAN) Pass, I hit some drizzles and then snow. That was my first time riding in snow and it wasn't too bad. I actually felt like I was in a Star Wars movie and just hit warp speed with the stars flying by me!! Then, it started sticking to my visor and that wasn't much fun. I made it there in exactly 3.5 hours and arrived at the hotel in Pasadena by 9:30... I did 110-120MPH most of the way down the 15.

Saturday morning we met up with the Eagle Rock Chapter of the Vegas Knights, as well as another Club called the Subliminal Riders. They were all great peeps and it was awesome having people who really know the roads. We headed on the 1 to Topanga Canyon Rd. to Old Topanga Canyon Rd. to Mulholland Dr. and of course to the Rock Store.

We then kept heading up Mulholland to "The Snake" where they have photographers taking professional photographs of the riders. Hey! There I go!!

From Malibu, we headed through Ojai (Oh-High) up to Santa Barbara. We took up all of the motorcycle parking on the pier and had some burgers...

We then rode a little bit around Santa Barbara then headed back down on the 101 to the house of one of the local Vegas Knights members for some Carne Asada.

All in all, some great riding, great roads, great peeps, great times. They were all dilly-dallying, so I headed back home solo again, got home, cleaned and lubed my chain, then headed out on the bike again... for sushi.

Ahhhhhh... life is REALLY, REALLY GOOD!!

Those e-body 'Cudas are a favorite of mine, and 340's surprise a lot of people with how strong they'll run! I had a '73 340 Duster once... current Mopar is a '69 'Cuda fastback, with a 440 stroked to 500 cubes waiting on the engine stand. Hoping to crack into 10 second quarters on pump gas while scaring the crap out of some "tuner boys"! ;-)

If we get a chance to head out that way, I'll be sure to holler. Thanks!

I have no idea what it is like riding in the snow ;-)

One time I got caught in the snow, within about a 2 mile stretch it went from just a wet road to having about 1 inch of the flaky white shit on the road. Had to run the shoulder of the freeway with my feet out to the side like pontoons, to stabilize the bike. Tires did not grab worth a shit. Bike ended up slipping from under me as I pulled into a service station to park the bike.

Another time I ran into that crap coming home from work. Was faily successful in keeping my visor relatively clear but there was a shield of ice on my chest and the rest of the helmet when I got home.

Yup. The wonders of changing weather Chicky. You make me proud.

My ride in snow was short lived and I managed to get home before it starting sticking to the road. Kinda fun to say ya rode through snow. Hail, on the other hand, just hurts

Sun??? Is that that big bright thing behind the clouds? Here in Calgary, they are calling for half a foot of snow over the next couple of days. Anybody come up with a mod to replace the wheels with a ski and belt yet? We can call it a bike-mobile

Yeah, I'm sorry. I went with the Vegas Knights and wasn't sure of their schedule. I didn't want to commit to meeting up with you when I had no control over it... next time though!!

Bear... you have no idea just how good things are and they keep getting better.... I'm in complete awe of my life and where it looks like it's heading...

    Goldfield, NV

So, yesterday I did an awesome road trip to a town a couple hours north of Vegas called Goldfield. I had never been there before, but was told by the organizers of the ride that it has been on "Ghost Hunters" or some show about haunted places. While there, I learned that during the gold rush, this was the largest town in Nevada with a population of 20,000 people!! The real jewel of info came from another friend of mine who told me that the Goldfield Hotel was in the movie Vanishing Point!! So, I watched Vanishing Point during the week so I could remember the hotel, etc. This trip brought me to 27,762 miles.

I took off from the group to ride by myself because they are very slow... I got to Goldfield, found the hotel and took pics of my bike in front of the corner window where the DJ in Vanishing Point was broadcasting.

I walked down the street (US 95) and came across these silver duckies on a surfboard

A little further down the street, was this bottle-house.

Then, I found the REAL gems... first, the restored firehouse...

Then.... drum roll please... there was all of this cool stuff behind the firehouse....

I'm not that great with my Fords but this has to be a Model A or T Ford fire engine

Model A or T flat bed

And the wackiest one of all... a chopped up Packard made into an RV... I bet this was the first RV ever made!!

Up against the building was this old double decker bus made by Fageol...?? The seats were pretty beat up, but in good shape for a bus from 1929... they were wicker!!

A little further down was the court house.

And a plaque memorializing a fight that went 42 rounds!!

Then... I hate to break this to all you boyz.... but I found the love of my life!!

The way back was fun... I took off from the group again, and was riding my own pace. I'd been having trouble hearing my radar detector, which I've had bluetoothed/chatterboxed into my helmet. Ever since I got rained on when I went to the International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach in December, it's been very quiet. Well... just north of Indian Springs, I saw the lights in the gully come on, then I looked at my radar detector and it was going crazy, then I realized it had been going off, but I couldn't hear it. I immediately pulled over and the cop was pretty cool... but not cool enough. He clocked me at 104, which is what my speedo said. He told me he could arrest me for that speed, but wasn't going to. He cited me for 5 over... 75 in a 70. After giving me the ticket he asked how fast I've had my bike. I just looked at him and he said, "I've already issued the ticket I'm not gonna change anything." So I said, "Well, it's not the fastest bike out there, it tops out at 162MPH". He said "Wow, that's fast enough, huh?" I didn't respond. Really, on a bike that doesn't feel the speed that it's going, is there really such a thing as "fast enough".... all in all, a great day... now I just gotta find out how much I owe the District Court of Las Vegas.... the best part was having all my slow friends pass me pulled over on the side. I smiled a big smile and waved as they rode by and they waved back!!!

That's a cool little town! I'm wondering; were you able to strap that cowpoke you were snuggling up to on the back of the VFR and take him home? Maybe that's why the cop stopped you...

How close are you to your goal? (9k ini 6 months)
