I have recently picked up a pair of HID conversion kits for my '99... These come with an assortment of hardware, of course doubled because of the dual light setup... Apart form the obvious humourous responses, could anyone suggest the best place or method to mount the ballasts. I am not a fan of hollywood tape and would prefer some advice before I start putting holes in the frame...

I place the balladt on the side of the front fairing where the marker is. Of course it is depend on the size of your Ballast. I order the thin one. Hope this help.

I installed a 6000Kelvin 35W H4 Bi-xenon HID kit 2 years ago on my 2001 VFR. I placed the ballast in the front fairing behind the turn indicators as "rocketscientist" said. There is plenty of room.. The controller unit was placed behind the rigt side fairing and wires to the battery/fuses were fitted on this side also.. You will be pleased with your new light!! It gives a LOT more light!! =)

I don't remember the name on the kit that i bought.. bought it of some guy on internet.. But I've bought several single beam kits since then from Hidworld.com and are pleased with the quality of those kits (Conquer HID).. Here is a link to a Bi-xenon kit..

    6000K 35W Bi-Xenon HID Kit (Hi/Lo) - Hidworld.com

    I hope this helps..

I'm just waiting for summer here.. I'll be able to drive my bike in a month or so.. mid april... Damn snow!!! :frown:

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm wondering what kind of beam pattern you guys end up with when going with the HID kits. I know the different shape/size of the bulb can really throw off the light output.

My buddy had a GSXR and had to aim his light as far down as possible just to get his HID kit to show the road, and I'm wondering if our VFRs have a similar result.

You really need projectors to get HIDs to output their lights correctly. Halogen housings have bends and lines everywhere which don't help HIDS like they do with halogens.
