While Honda shits the bed, this is what Aprilia has been working on for 2011. I can't find a reason to buy any other sportbike except, perhaps, an Agusta F4. Aprilia's addition of an electronics package to the R edition has probably killed BMW s1000r sales to all but the most allegiant Beemer aficionados.

Granted they look awesome. I will defer judgement until I get to ride one. The lack of Ape dealerships and the ability for one to get them worked on by knowledgeable people if you wanted to go that route may be a concern for some that are out in the boonies. But you could say the same for an F4. I have ridden the Beemer and for the price it's pretty tough to beat

Cycle World put the Beemer as sports bike of the year - saying it has launched a new era. They put the Ducati 1200 as no 2 and vfr1200 as number 3. some countries didn't vote that way but most did.

I also rode the 2010 BMW with the limiters off, and it may be the best bike I've ever thrown a leg over. Tons of power, clutcless downshifts, I was immediately comfortable doing full leans, and (untill now) it had unrivaled electronics. Just can't get past the way they look, so it didn't even make the top 3 for me. In contrast, the Aprilia is more aggressive, less comfortable, it runs hot, and is very tightly wound; probably not a very logical streetbike choice, but it has so much personality that it sits at the top of my list despite those things. Another member here, who is too modest to mention it, just bought an Agusta F4, which I'm hoping to get 100 miles on before I make my final decision. Just sitting on the bike, it actually felt as though it may be more comfortable than the RSV4, which isn't saying much.

Less braking, higher corner speed, and overall maintained momentum. While one might beat it down the straight, with the right track, where the Duc (or another bike at another track) can maintain it's momentum, there is a chance; as I understand it, the Ape is more a "point and shoot" type of bike (which is my riding style, comes from motocross for me) and thus at a track where that works, the Ape will prevail.

Will be interesting to see if the BMW can try to catch up or where it's stronger than the Duc, Ape and Yami.

Oh my! Whilst you wring the pee out of your oatmeal, I shall duck into the nearest phonebooth, rip off my knockoff Brooks Brothers and re-emerge in what hopefully will be suitable mufti.

How is it you know I eat oatmeal? Have you been spying on me again, or is my foil helmet in need of changing? Stay out of phone booths, if you do that phone booth thing, then the terrorists win.

I'll bet you watch every single bike race on TV and the internet, and shoot spitballs at the screen hoping to hit Valentino Rossi right on the helmet. Dont lie.

No fair fiddling with your semi chub while reading this either. You left your webcam on again dummy.

I have been watching a lot of supercross. It has been pretty interesting so far this year. I was wondering something, though. Why is RC called the GOAT? Doesn't jeremy McGrath have him beat for all time wins? Don't get me wrong, I realize they are both obviously awesome racers, it just seems like I remember McG having more wins and more titles. Am I wrong? I kind of loosely follow so I might have it wrong.

Yes, McG has a higher overall win record, and is still the unrivaled total numbers winner of all time; however, when RC was racing, he was so dominate, to the point of winning EVERY MOTO he raced in a couple different years, that many racers said he was the GOAT because he was so dominate, over very stiff competition (that was mostly outside by the way, although dominate in SuperX, not near as much so as outdoor MotoCross). He was supposedly given the nickname by fellow racers, high praise indeed (if true).

As with any kind of sport, there is the eternal "what if" discussions; what if Hurricane Hannah, Jeff Ward, Rick Johnson, Jeff Stanton, McG, RC, Chad Reed, and James Stewart were all in their primes and raced eachother for a season, who would win?

This goes along with any list of "what if's", including boxers, all kinds of racers, etc.

    Anyway, there ya go.

I must say, that tirade is nearly as useful as lists of pre-season prognostications lifted from other sources.

I only shoot spitballs at anyone opposing the Fighting Marmosets.

Hey mine aren't lifted, they're very carefully crafted bullshit made from the finest raw nonsense.

I don't do tirades, just good natured jibes designed to somehow just maybe elicit an actual opinion from someone.

Hope your Marmosets get their fannies waxed by the Banana Slugs

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe we have achieved the correct number of debating posts where it is customary for one of us to threaten the other with physical harm. Please don't beat me up

Close. First we have to go through all the druggie-meds-booze-snoose-Satan worship-psychological profile-masturbation-brave behind a screen shit; only then you will get to feel the awesome wrath of the Fighting Marmosets. WE BE BAD.

Damn, hardly seems worth the effort just to find out which racers you like.

    Marmosets suck, they're goin down

What was going on with all of the flat tires in WSS? I couldn't find anything specific, other than the negative things Foret had to say. Other than that thing with the Pirelli's, it was some great racing.

I suppose I should be offended by all the nonsense BS being spouted here in my nice racing thread.
But you guys know me better than that.

So great racing in WSS; really sucked for Chaz, he was up for a podium at least... Pirrelli better fix their tire issues... Was good to see BE1 doing so well; Triumph should be rethinking their decisions about now... Tells you something about those two year old Yamaha's too...
