Just picked up my new 2007 RWB, 0 miles, in Sept last year. Sitting in my garage waiting for the snow and ice to melt in MN.

Thinking of slip-ons to get a throat-ier exhaust note and lose a little weight. Read some of the intense exhaust projects other members have untertaken and not looking for that level of expense, time, or energy. Just looking for some options on slip-ons that don't require anything else like remapping the PCM. Looking at Leo Vince, Two Bros, Staintune, FMF...

Anyone have real experience/recommendation on a simple slip-on upgrade? (Positive or negative) Be nice not to break the bank, but don't want crap either.
    Thanks!

Staintunes are hard to come across and expensive but sound the best in my opinion. Most are pretty simple to install but you need to research compatability with hard bags if you plan on exploring that option.

When I was shopping for my RWB, I was looking to try to be a little different; I was looking at Devil, but they stopped making them for the 6th gen, though at one point you could still get them from inventory. I was corresponding with BlueFlame, who I think make awesome exhaust, but they didn't make them for 6th gen at the time; don't know if that's changed.

I have Arrow on my Trumpet, and they do make a set for the 6th Gen, I would recommend them.

I would get the Staintunes. They sound like angel's singing:smile:. I know they are a on the pricey side for sure, but worth it.
I put them on myself in a couple hours. (i'm not a gear head) No remapping required either. Small weight reduction. Don't have to repack them. A pain to keep clean though.
Not sure about noise regulations in your area but they are loud at high RPM's without the spud.
    Have fun shop'n:cool:

There was also discussion on here about an exotic, called Bos Exhaust, that make a really interesting looking set for the VFR800, real close to the stock shape: VFR 800 V-Tec GP-1 02- - BOS Exhausts

Never heard of anyone who had them though, so don't know anything about them...

I can totally vouch for the Leo Vinci cans. Sound awesome, if a little on the quiet side of throaty. I came out of a fire blade with a race can, so maybe I'm a little deaf to the lv's now...

I've got Scorpions on mine. Little bit noisier, but were no fun to put on with the saddlebag brackets.

No exhaust is cheap for the VFR.

You can say that again, there's a little fluctuation in pricing between the aftermarkets, but not enough to influence your decision, so I'd get the one you like best. If weight savings are a goal of yours, you may want to narrow your choices down to Two Bros M2 or Leo Vince conicals; sorry Staintune fans. Two Bros sound great, perhaps a little more aggressive sounding and a few DB louder than the Leo's-- which have a smooth, deep sound; either is a good bet. Unfortunately, switching to any aftermarket exhaust is going to affect mapping. It will be up to you as to whether or not you can live with it. Personally, I'd of remapped a stock machine. IMO, the stock fueling is about as bad as it gets.

Thanks for all the input. Had never heard of BOS, but those are some sweet looking pipes. Just fired off an email to BOS in the UK to see about price and availability. I'm guessing they cost a fortune. But they look so sweet. I think the Leo Vince's are sharp to. Have a hard time getting past the exhaust only coming out one pipe on the Two Bros. Maybe it's my OCD.

Seems like their really aren't a lot of options easily available other than Two Bros and Leo Vince. Seems like the pipes are no longer available or ship from another country. Maybe I should live with stock...

Been scouring the internet for more pipe info. Googled 'BOS exhaust' and some sight named Exotic SPortbike came up as what looked like a US dealer. Phone number is disconnected though. ??? Anyone have any insight with this company?

Also, came across this site that has a wealth of VFR exhaust feedback from a variety of manufacturers. Maybe it's been posted before - I wouldn't be surprised if someone here put it up. Good stuff, interesting read.

I'll post if I hear back from BOS in the UK. So far no response to my email. I guess I should ask here - does anyone know how to order BOS exhaust here in the US? These are the sweetest pipes I've ever seen on a VFR.

Read the thread. One member had horrid issues with an exhaust that wouldn't fit.

Thanks Keager - didn't see the link at 1st. Damn - what a soap opera with the Laser pipes. That sucks.

Okay, so the more I don't seem to be able to get any info on the BOS pipes, the more I want them. Have shotgunned 6 or 7 emails to BOS and dealers in the UK trying to get price and availability. We'll what streams back over the next several days. Have yet to run across anyone who has any experience with them. May be the guinea pig for the group... Will keep you posted...

I'm sure this is covered ad nauseum, but is it recommended to remap the PCM with most slip-ons? Is just simply a good idea anyway? Is it simple - like picking 1, 2 or 3 setting or something complex. I'll research it too, just looking for someone to cut to the chase and dumb it down.

    Thanks all -

I too have been looking at slip-ons. I saw the guy with the S-Tunes on E-Bay and sent him a message, a couple days ago. Haven't heard back. I just wanted to know if they were coming off HIS bike and if he knew how old they were/how many miles on them. I have a feeling he's parting out a bike that's not his.

I spent alot of time listening to various sound bytes on YouTube of VFRs with various pipes. Yes, the Staintunes are my first choice but way too expensive. Leo's are my next choice and there is a downloadable map already on the PCIII site for a stock VFR with O2 sensor kit and Leo pipes. Sure, re-mapping on a dyno would be nice, but I'll try the map first. I already had my PCIII custom-mapped a couple years ago, so I'm gonna try the Leo's with the current map first. Then use the map from the PCIII site and see what the diff is.

I got a guy here who will get me the Leo's (carbon fiber) and install them for me for a total cost of $780.00. Somtimes it's good to be a girl... :cheer2: :flypig:

Thurn Motorsport offers the Bos exhaust system that you're looking for DNRDNI.
Here are a few pics of it from their website and the link that will take you there.

    Click me.>>>>>Auspuff-rc46/2

That exhaust system lists for 889 Euros. At current exchange rates that's approximately $1225.00 or so. Plus the shipping cost from Germany, which I can tell you won't be cheap.

I WON the Staintunes on eBay!!! I finally heard back from the guy, and they ARE from a bike he got at an auction... theft recovery. Once he responded the first time, he was very good with communications and I decided to bid... and I WON!!! My bike with Staintunes!!! Only 12K miles on the bike so I'm assuming the pipes have only 12K or less miles on them... and I got 'em for $635!!! Can't wait til they get here!!

Oh, AND he's throwing in the PCIII that was on the bike as well!! I already have a PCIII on my bike, but for free, sure I'll take it and check out the map. The guy wanted an extra 90 for it, but before the end of the auction I asked him if I win, would he throw in the PCIII and he agreed!! Wow, today is my lucky day!!
