Well my tax return came yesterday, so i ordered a new chain and sprockets(+2 rear, hope I like it), a PAIR blockoff kit from TPO parts and some of those dumb little well nuts that hold the fairing pieces on. Next weekend I go and get the bike out of the friends garage. Thermostat, and fork oil are waiting for it as well.

    :heh:

That's just the S/S exhaust header pipe Crusty. It's just one small part of the puzzle. The fun has only just begun. It now has to be sent out for specialty coatings. Thank God (or in this case the government, which when you come to think of it is prolly the same thing anyway ) for tax return checks!

Wait til you see the actual exhaust system, the "S" bend pipe and end cans.
THAT'S the really special part I was telling you and Rail about in the chatroom. I guarantee you're prolly gonna do this :faint: when you see it.

For what it costed that exhaust system had damn well better go afwipiddafwopiddafwapidda:chaingun: when I'm done with it.

Well I finaly took mine for a ride. I bought it in November last year. I cant say I have ever been a viffer fan. Never owned one before. I have always been a sportsbike or dirty fan. Also have a Duc and KTM. So the poor thing has just been sitting in the shed. Or rarely taken up to the shops. Just to turn it over. I got it cheap..very cheap and was just going to service it and move it on. But we have had a bit of rain here in QLD. Like every weekend since November. And bit of flooding. Lost a few towns and a city lol
So anywho. I went out with the boys on it for a laugh. There were two big bang R1's quite modded. A ZX1400. An RRthou and another trainer on a CB900. Funny the two most experienced riders on the two gayest bikes.
Well stuff me. It was not only me that was suprised. Yup they creamed me on the straits. I was tap dancing the gear shift like Fred Astair to keep them in sight. But soon as it got twisty the gay little viffer was all over them like a fat kid on a choclate muffin. This is an 06 VFR. And still totaly as it came on the floor back in 06. Down to those god awful Dunlops.
Anyway I changed the dunnies before I left for a set of Bridgestone 015's. That's all I did to it.
I was watching these guys pattering across the bumps. ( Our roads are crap after the floods) Flicking and rubbing their wrists after only 150k's. Arching their backs and standing on the pegs. Me ?? I was comfy as could be.
We stopped for lunch at Tin Can bay. And these guys were all groan and stretch and arggh when they got off. I'm there thinking I could go a few more K's as I was not hungry yet. It was only 10.30am and their stopping for lunch ??? We had only gone 250k's. (bout 150 miles) Seriously if I was on the 998 I would have been the same or worse.
So anywho I am thinking I am liking this bike and just might keep it. But.. ha ha always the but.
    1. Suspension balance. I have seen or read quite a few guys changing the forks or fork springs. I am using almost all of the rear tyre. But bugger all front ??? I have the preload all the way on.. on the rear. It helped a bit but it still pushes wide under power and still not using much front tyre. For mine the rear shock is gay ??? Hey I am no expert suspension guy so your input would be great. My next step is to drop the triple clamps down another 3mm on the forks.
    2. I found there was no use going over 9,000rpm. It just felt flat and athsmetic over nine.
    3. I could not hear the thing. There was more wind noise coming through the shoei than rasp from the pipes or induction noise. And we were going at entertaining speeds on very poor roads, so dropping your eyes for a nano to look at the tacho was not a wise move. Also wildlife was abundant. And it does not like hitting the limiter. Or I dont. It bogs down a bit too much.
    4. Very snappy throttle and crapy power delivery. Well not crappy but it kindof bogs down at about 5,800 through till the valves hit at 6,500. Even then it makes a noise but does not jump till about 7,000 and out of puff at 9ish. It still pulls but not any harder.
So I got home and did a service on it. Mmm still the same 6 y/o filter and oil. I am sure it was mineral. The bike only had 4,000k's on it when I bought it so it was not up for its service K's yet. And I bet my left nut the guy I bought it off did not get it done at all. Not even the 1,000k one as the book is not stamped anyway. Or every 6 months like I would even if I had not ridden it. Just an old habbit.
I have seviced a lot of bikes and never seen such clean oil. For 6 y/o oil anyway. And from a bike that has just had the living daylights thrashed out of it. So yeah I did the filters and coolant. I think Imight have to change the brake fluid as well. Never bled a viffer. Is it hard or any different with the linked brakes. Found myself getting lasy and washing off speed for a corner with just the rear. never locked once and it does wash off a lot of speed. Mmm bad habit that. Anyway to just remove the back working the front and leave the rest of the system the way it is. I really like it but I am a trainer and was thinking of using this bike for that now that I like it. But fig 8's with a linked brake is the pits.

You have to be a fan of the red/white/blue paint scheme, all it needs is white wheels. The first thing I would throw on would be a set of pipes and a power commander, it'l get you some more ponies, and you'll get to hear what keeps most of us viffer fans here.

Definetly a yes on the white rims. Not sold on the red stripes though. I was going to take them off but found out, or think its one big sticker on a few of the panels. (the red white and blue) So they can stay.
My initial thoughts with it were to finaly keep one bike bog stock standard. But yes that's impossible I think. It needs cans and a little more breath in.
All in all I am really starting to like it. I ride for a living and it takes a dam good bike for me to come home from work and want to go for a ride. But that's what I did today.

    Whoo hoo!!!

My Samco Sport silicone hoses have FINALLY arrived!!! :whoo: :banana::bounce::party2::high5:

I custom ordered these silicone hoses from Brits Inc. two and a half months ago on Feb. 15th. (I got the Stainless Steel hose clamp kit from OPP Racing.)
They're just one more important piece for my Jokermobile puzzle.

Sorry for all the enthusiasm but I've been patiently waiting quite awhile for these hoses and right now I am totally STOKED!!! :guitar::rockon:

Thought I'd share this with you, enjoy my friends.

LOL! Thanks Heros. Holy Smokes like noone's ever said THAT to me before!

I'm shooting for late June/early July.

When it comes to my bikes I like to sweat the details.

You're absolutely right though noone will ever really be able to see them clearly with the fairings on,but the thing is Heros I'LL KNOW that they are there and that's always been good enough for me.
Don't worry my friend I'll be posting some pics of my bike with her panties down during my build so you can see what she's got under the fairings. Should be an interesting sight. Fair enough?
