I have been a member of VFR World previously but with the birth of my son 4 years ago I had decided it was in the best interest of myself and my beloved 97 VFR750 to find it a new home with someone who could enjoy it as much as my wife and myself. One of the fellows I worked with jumped all over the chance to become the recipient. I could post before and after pictures of the sale but suffice it to say, my pristine baby made it 85 km's before succumbing to a moderate case of road rash. To this day he still owns the bike and has since crashed it again. Thankfully he now thinks better of parking it in front of my office window. My fantastic wife has now purchased a new to us 2000 VFR800 for a song of a price and we have spent most of the winter revitalizing her. She had spent her life living outdoors and spent many time on the road between Canada and the southern US. With 60,000 kms (35000 Miles) on the clock she certainly looked her age. After a lot of time with a polisher, toothbrush, degreaser and some powder coat and paint, I think she has been returned to her former glory. The lower cowls on both sides needed some paint to repair the "Oops, I forgot the kickstand." damage and the "Oops, I forgot to remove the caliper lock abrasion." The previous owner also attempted to use the BBQ to heat up the engine oil one wintery afternoon in Calgary and thus the left side of the rear cowl suffered some, well, errrrrrrr, droopiness shall we say. Nothing some new parts and paint could not fix and I decided the problematic R & R should be replaced as well even though it did not look like it was damaged. Somehow, keeping as a spare seems like a good idea. Once again I am glad to be a VFR owner and look forward to putting many more miles on the latest addition to our family. My four year old is also looking forward to some seat time. He was tremendously helpful at taking it apart and has expressed is malcontent with the fact that his grandma does not like the idea of his being a passenger until he is at least 20. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what kind of hard luggage to get and where I might find a good after market slip on. The fellow that has my old bike still has the slip-on from my 97 VFR and I was wondering if anyone on the forum knows if the link pipe is the same. Good to be back.
I found a delkevic slip on on ebay for a $178 it isn't the loudest but it has a nice sound and imho it is a really good buy for the money hope this helps. They have a bunch of different options if you look them up. Everything from stainlees to carbon fiber and titanium. Hard luggage from corbin though I prefer portable soft bags. staintunes are good though I went with a hindle high mount mid pipe 2" outlet and whatever can you'd like.

That's that lil hick town north of you. Maybe I will meet you for a Joe one day on my way through. It would seem you left this site just as I was being born here. Well, you're right, there should be some pics but, alas, as I have been known to have difficulty with sending and receiving email at times................ well, you get the idea. Last time I was on the site I had a friend show me how to psot pictures. Unfortuneately that friend no longer lives here and it is hard to get a hold of him in Sumatra, and he apparently has more riding time now due to the better weather. LOL I will try to figure out how to post some pics though. Thanks for the warm welcome.
Welcome, Zoom-zoom. I too am a returned rider, and lived in Kelowna from 1972-78. I wish I could help with your exhaust and bags questions, but I am a 6th Gen guy only.
Thanks for the help. I was able to talk with one of the guys at Delkevic yesterday while I had a slow moment at work. They had a nice, brand new pipe on the shelf with my name on it. I seriously considered jrandsu's high pipe but my wife and I were a bit concerned that she or my son might burn her leg on the pipe while riding two up. We also have some old soft luggage off another bike and we weren't sure if the pipe would melt the inside of it.
congrats on the four year old AND the bike...I have a four yearr old myself and she can reach the foot pegs while sitting on the seat...but not quite the ground.....LOL she helps me take it apart as well and is quite pissed that she can't ride it... (we take little spins around the parking lot. her with my helmet on as well as gloves she wanted to wear my jacket but , well .....anyway....welcome back and no pictures means it didn't happen/.....
