Took out my battery today and it's a Yuasa YTZ10S. Nowhere have I seen that as recommended. Should I get the recommended battery, or will this one work ok?
Here's the deal: I just bought the bike ('03) on Saturday and rode it 250 miles home. Ran great- no problems. Took a short ride Sunday- no problems. When to start it Monday- slow turning followed by clicking. Of course I feel sick, but I know it's not insurmountable, so I'm taking it one step at a time. Trickle charging the battery now, and an buying a multimeter tomorrow. Reading everything I can find- will check stator plug wires, etc.
    Thanks for any help!
    Rich

Update: fwiw: just put the battery back in and it started instantly.

    Enjoy your new bike !!!!

Everyone who buys a VFR needs to do the STANDARD CHARGING TEST as soon as he (or she) gets the bike home.

Meter leads across the battery terminals while engine is running at about 5000 rpm ( in neutral or you'll be running fast) should indicate between 13.5 and 14.5 vdc.

    If not, there's a problem.

Just replaced mine this weekend, weak cranking when cold and would discharge quickly if the key was left on. Aboot normal after a few years and best to replace it going into the season. Picked it up at Batteries Plus for a much better price and a no questions asked warranty.

A battery should show about 12.6 vdc after a charge or after a long ride if it's good.
