    QUIT TALKING ABOUT CARS!!!!!!

I admit I don't pay much attention to AMA. I only have so much attention to give, so I choose MotoGP.

But the youngest guy ever just won the Daytona and it was only his 2nd Sprint Cup start ever. Really amazing driving on the kids part and it was awesome that he didn't just fall into the win either. He was a contender all week long. And when his car was taken out on Thursday, other teams chipped in to get his car fixed so he wouldn't have to go to a backup.

It's really amazing how competitors help eachother out in racing.

The Daytona? Thats not till next month........oh you meant the circle Daytona where the hillbillies try to crash out the rednecks or vice versa while driving around in a circle 500 times like Englishmen stuck in a roundabout, or maybe thats just the fans, I can never really tell what theyre trying to accomplish. Did the Wonderbread car win?

    My bad.

I'm not sold on AMA anymore, myself. From a spectators point of view, I agree that the races are entertaining. However, the amateurish management that the organization has shown surrounding Monster Energy and Dan Eslick specifically, has been disappointing. The Buell thing was bad enough, but Eslick's unpunished actions in last seasons final race are difficult to overlook. Racing is aggressive in nature and I applaud that, but threatening actions have no place on a track; Eslick's own actions should've been handled with more severity if the AMA wants its organization and its riders to be taken seriously as a proving ground on a world stage. As it stands, they are a well deserved joke. And yes, I'll be tuning in with the anticipation that Herrin will soon be looking into the ramifications of tatooing Eslick with a tire iron.

^^ I'm afraid you're right. He may literally kill Herrin; maybe then the AMA would slap his wrist.

I think Ducati is gonna kick them self in the arse at the end of the season for not having a factory team.
also it's nice to see a Kawi up in the top 10 for a change

the DMG need to bring in some money to pay the riders.
would help to be able to watch it on TV LIVE!!!
to use NASCAR for an example, there could be more sponsors and better purse money if they could bring in more viewers.
also make the superbike class A SUPERBIKE CLASS not a super sport or super stock class. Then you might see some world class riders in the states again racing.

^^ Good points 02, it'd be nice to see the cuffs come off in AMA "superbike". Not a huge Kawi fan, but it should be an interesting watch this year with Sykes, who came in strong toward the end of last season on an inferior bike, riding what appears to be a much improved machine. I'm also expecting huge gains for BMW, if not a championship. I was finally able to test an S1000R with the limiters removed, and can see why it's dominating in several foreign superstock series, if they can expand on that in WSBK--look out.

Don't hammer the AMA too much, because DMG LOVES that kinda behavior; it's right up the alley with NASCAR and their "good ole boy" attitude. So, since DMG thinks that's what sells, they are actually creating an environment that promotes that kind of behavior. Basically, the AMA won't be able to do anything about it, until they get outta the deal with DMG.

Well, with the series in a shambles like this, whadaya expect? No real "factory" teams, no viewership (ratings) to pressure Speed to put the show on any other time, no money to pay for a better slot, and DMG can't seem to figure out why the "turn left only" crowd hasn't flocked to moto-roadracing...

I doubt Duc is even going to miss the fact they don't have a "factory" team. Look at the finishing times so far... Carlos was the fastest Duc last year anyway. They'll be competitive and Carlos's team has 'remarkably close' to factory colors... "Get the press, and don't have to pay the bill?" Doesn't get much better then that.

When the 'changes' that came in via the deal with DMG, after the HUGE infusion of money that was expected, the idea was that within 3-5 years, they would have eased the rules over to align with WSBK; thus this year thru 2013, we should have had American SBK on par with WSBK. But, "something happened on the way to the bank", and after the series has been in such turmoil, the idea of getting to WSBK standardized rules has gone out the window as no one has the sponsorship money to pay for that...

Frankly, I think Jordan has proved he loves motorcycle racing and has a flair for marketing; personally, I think the AMA should ask him to sell his team and become the "racing commissioner" for the AMA...

F1 has officially "postponed" Bahrain (their opener on March 13th) due to the unrest in the Middle East; makes you wonder, although nothing is happening in Qatar at the moment, if MotoGP will also be affected?

I reference to bringing in the 'good-ol boy' crowd, etc. I think that's probably what they need for more sponsors also. Unfortunately, just thinking of the riders I know doesn't nearly cover the kind of numbers they need to get ratings, and frankly, most of us are casual fans. Now, if they figure out a way to interest the regular casual riders enough to get the to actually be able to name a few riders, then maybe they are getting somewhere. If they get a little controversial and near crashes, or crashes start popping up on mainstream news, then a few heads may turn that way. I'm not saying it's right, I'm just following out the logic with speculation. If they (AMA) could lure in a significant portion of the motorcycle riders out there, then they'd probably have enough sponsors, BUT we are a very diverse group. If cruiser riders make of the bulk of the riding community, they have to figure out a way to get those guys watching. Maybe that's what they thought the Buell thing would do, but we see how that went. Who knows what the hell they'll come up with next. Don't be surprised if the tracks get smaller, moved indoors, and road races start having jumps with fire hoops.

He's just holding back. The shoulder is fine and all of this is undoubtedly a ruse in which Pedrosa is waiting for the perfect moment to hatch his master plan and consequent domination. I almost feel sorry for the other competitors, or as Danny calls them, coƱos.

Since we broke the ice on AMA, who here is a Johnny Rock Page fan?

Ten bucks says there's as many different opinions on this guy as there are race fans.

never heard of him. so he makes ATMs? I checked out the website. His life is not for me. It seems to me that lot of racers end up with wives that are very similar. Not my cup of tea at all. She appears to be a cliche, but this is a snap judgment of course as I couldn't stomach much more of the intro video.

I applaud the whole going back 'unfinished business' thing, though. More power to him.

I just hate quote/unquote reality TV.
