Today is the day that I finally have to admit to myself that my bike is dead. I think it dropped a valve, but whatever the case, it won't start, and it sounds like there isn't any compression.
Don't get me wrong, I love this bike to DEATH. Seriously, it has become my closest companion. But I would feel wrong just letting her rot, so I want to part it out, because besides the engine, the rest of the bike is in good shape.

If there is anything you want, please let me know. Prices will be given upon request. I would prefer to be PM'd, but post any general questions you may have.

(If this post shouldn't be here, please tell me, and I will take care of it.)

    Sorry about the news.

Don't take the first offer on those Yosh slip-ons. They should go for a good price. Tank looks in good shape and should fetch a bit too. Good luck.

That is sure a good looking bike. Would it be cost prohibitive to find another engine?

Tank has a small dent, maybe a half dollar. The petcock has only reserve, so when it's gurgling, you'd better be rolling into a gas station.

Yeah, I plan on getting a good price for those cans.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I thought about it, but I haven't seen an engine for a reasonable price anywhere online yet.

I'm interested in the body parts, what kind of price shipped to 66503? Depending on the price, I may be interested in all of them or just a few pieces.

    shipping to 32808?

sorry for the loss mate, how much would you charge for the windshield, and the v4 cowl thing on the bottom, w/ shipping? 32808 is the zip code!

I should add a couple things:

    1. First come, first served. I hate to do it, but thus is availability. Unless someone tries to screw me on the price. But I'm just being negative now.

    2. The things I should have listed from the get go:
Dropped. Once while I owned it, and at least once before I owned it.
    The rear brake drags.
The rear tail piece is held on with just one bracket. One bracket is snapped. If you would like me to fix it before shipping, it will be another $5-10.
The cowl had taken damage and the mounting brackets were either snapped or in bad shape. I gorilla glued and riveted PVC tabs to remedy. They are holding up very well.
    The reserve is always on.
The shift-lever is a little loose.
    The helmet lock doesn't work.
The seat has been reupholstered, so it doesn't fit the tank precisely, but it looks very good.
Frame is in good condition, so are the wheels, swingarm, forks, and rear shock.

Also, understand that the parting out of this bike is so I may buy a VFR, so please work with me and help a brother get back on a bike (specifically, a Viffer).

I may as well cover all my bases and say right now: I am looking for a VFR, preferably the "2nd" generation, i.e. the single-sided swingarm RC36, but an RC24 will not be sneezed at. I am not interested in any VTEC model (I want the peace of mind afforded by the gear-driven cams. Plus, that whine is music). I estimate that my spending range will be about 2 grand, maybe a bit more, and I won't be buying until March or so (the very, very, VERY beginning of the New England riding season). Yes, I'm may be jumping the gun, but I figure there is no harm in putting it out there now.

2nd Gen is the VFR like mine. 3rd gen is when they started going with the single sided swingarm.

    I'd get a 3rd or 4th gen.

But that would entail NOT RIDING for an unknown amount of time. I plan on being on the new bike as soon as I purchase it. Heck, if I get it in January, I'll be out there with chains and a bleedin' snow plow if I must.

But, yes, it is a good solution, with the added bonus that I get to have dual exhausts AND a single-sided swingarm. 80s trick for the win.

Slow, how is the suspension on your 2nd Gen? From what I've read, it's kind of mushy...?

Still have most of the bike.
    Sold: Slip ons and windshield
    In negotiation: Fork assembly

Everything else is there. I'd love to see this parted out soon, I need money and it pains me to see my baby sitting dead in front of my apartment every day.

Apparently (according to the couple VFR owners who have ridden my bike) my suspension is in very good shape.

But it's not mushy....it's stiff and jittery. Not very comfortable on rough roads. Even the old VFR750 articles from 1986 complained about this. The bike just doesn't have a spot between too stiff and too soft.
    It's quite disappointing.

I need to figure out how to fix this problem.....or get a newer gen.

If someone asked me what Gen VFR I recommend, 1st and 2nd wouldn't be first on my list.

Right on man, thanks for the heads-up

Luckily, I found myself a 94 in incredible shape, so I'm snapping that up when I have the funds.

    Need parts

Hi I just joined the site and I am looking for a front fairing with this paint scheme. The replacement tank I have has this one. Is it still available? I am also interested in the rear fairing. The one behind the seat. And the side covers if you have not sold them yet. If you could PM me and let me know that would be great. Thanks
