This might be a dumb question - but what is the difference between the PCIII USB models and will they fit between different bikes? I would imagine that the wiring harness might be different but if I can get a PCIII from another Honda it should be compatible with the VFR with the VFR maps loaded? Correct?

Just checking-in on my freshly installed Pwr. Comm. III USB & dynoed re-map. The bike pulls very smoothly through the entire rpm range & has eliminated the on-off switch effect on the throttle. I can't wait till this weekend to go out for a real ride!!! Kenji:tongue:

    Hey Kenji,

How was the visit to the dyno? Did they produce a map for you with your mods? I read a great article in Sportbike on the PC and the 'qaulified' tuners available. These guys work magic. They used a 2006 R6 as an example. I can testify to the characteristics of this bike. They mapped the PC and the bike was very friendly with the new map. Can not wait to get my PC and check out a tuner.

I purchased mine new from http://www.cyclemartusa.com for $226 (shipped) and had it in one week. I think the price has gone up to $250 but it's still better then $300.

Theoretically it makes sense that it would work and you'd only have to change the map, probably the harness, but I have no facts...lotta help I am, huh?

Hopefully someone else might know for sure...

love2ride, The baseline dyno run showed a relatively flat curve, I think thats why the throttle felt like an on/off switch. After installing the Pwr. Comm. & o2 sims the curve now has a steady climb till its hits the vtec activation, really smooth!!! Kenji

You still running this Sepp? Curious how you like it since it's been a little while now. Anyone else use this free upgrade too? It sounds cool, but I do wonder what that does to the fuel consumption. I do like to get at least 150 miles out of a tank just out of convenience.

Yes - still running it and loving the lowend powersurge on demand. The gas mileage suffered when I play it a lot, but after the swap to '99 VFR catless headers, the gas mileage has actually seemed to improve. But still too early to get a precise difference.

Thanks, I'm sure we will hook up eventually on one of the PNW rides next spring and I'll buy you lunch with the savings, as long as it's not Ruth's Chris Steak House

    Some questions

My bike does the surge thing a little bit on occasion, at low constant revs so im hoping the PCIII will be a good thing.

This thread has me interested. - A couple of questions before im sold.

Does the Power commander work - without you disabling the O2 sensors?

Could disabling the O2 sensors do any damage?
Or could the PCIII do any damage?
Has anyone damaged thier bike with it?

Can you easily revert back to stock configuration?

Does anyone have any figures on the extra fuel consumption?

Q: My bike does the surge thing a little bit on occasion, at low constant revs so im hoping the PCIII will be a good thing.

    A: It helped mine

Q: Does the Power commander work - without you disabling the O2 sensors?

A: No. The ECU will continue to try and adjust from the readings it gets from the O2 sensor.

Q: Could disabling the O2 sensors do any damage? Or could the PCIII do any damage? Has anyone damaged their bike with it?

A: No, No, Not that I've ever heard of. But I guess if you were creating your own map and were running REALLY lean you could. Also, if you want to keep your cat in working condition, running lean will damage it over time.

Q: Can you easily revert back to stock configuration?

A: Take about 20 minutes to un-install it - nothing you do during installation is permanent.

Q: Does anyone have any figures on the extra fuel consumption?

A: I don't know. It still gets much better mileage then my RX-8 so I don't worry about it. Anyone else have the answer?

We should have a VFR meet there next spring. Only 5 months away....

Ooops! Sorry for the thread-jack. :tape:

While we are talking about the PC III USB, does anyone know where there are any good stock maps?

you dont have to remove your power commander from the bike to have the bike run on factory settings. just load the all "zero" map from the Power Commander site.

Just made a appointment with Mike Velasco the local guru for a custom map job on the PClll, I have a 99 with Staintunes and K&N, I called Power Commander after I didn't see a map set up for my combination and they offered me a generic version but didn't have a map set up for my combination for the PClll, they had one for the PCll, but not the PClll

Even though I'm pissed about paying $250.00 for the custom job on such a easy installation, I know it will be dialed in perfect after he gets done with it. And another plus is I get to put the bike on a Dyno to see the before and after.

Okay, sorry, I am still a newbie and confused. Is the powercommander worth it/works? I have read the threads but not to my satisfaction. I can be somewhat meticulous about my baby, however, it does have the characteristics mentioned I have noticed. If you are not hardcore rider in the twisties and such, worth the bucks?? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
