    Rte 2 MA ride

    02 VFR Rider,
Took a solo trip to the NH shore in late August. Followed the Mohawk trail most of the way. Rte 2 was a great ride. Loved all the little towns and twisty roads through the various state forests. Took seven hours, but who's counting when you're enjoying the ride! Ride map attached

I feel sorry for you guys north of Interstate 10. the best weather we have for riding is november and early december down here(not too hot so all of your gear is comfortable).

I get to ride that stretch everyday, (although usually around 430AM) and your right about it being the best. Avoid 116 past Ashfield tho, rougher than a boars ass. Used to be a cop in that area so that made it even more fun

I spent 6 hours cleaning the 12inches off the roof and 6" ice dams outta my gutters yesterday. First time in 11 years in this house that I've gotten ice dams - way too much snow/freezing rain in too short a time.

I like the snow, but this is getting old. This is also the first winter that I've been unable to take my bike out for even a short ride due to the relentless snow on the roads.

Score one more vote for Too Much Snow. If I cant get out to day it will end my 20 miles a month goal Ive maintained for two years. 5 inches due tomorrow, up to 12 on Wednesday. WTF? I even heard a Skidoo buddy bitching about when will it end.

Back to tires. After much research and some great feed back, I think I'm going to go with the Pilot Roads and stay with the 180 rear. I love the twisties but I gotta get some decent mileage too. A friend with a beemer swears he's getting close to 10k per set. He's not a real hard ass in the turns but seems to be roughly ananlogous to my style of riding. Lots cheaper than the Road 2's and I've continued to hear about a cupping issue with Dunlops.

That said, keep the comments coming. No money has changed hands and wont for a while so I am nothing if not wishy-washy. I think..

    Motto,

I am on my second set of RP2's and there is likely to be a third set. I commute 100 miles round trip "a;most"every day. Even below freezing like I will be today. I am getting more than 10K miles but I am not the technical type either. Mine wear in the centre. Michelin's have a new set out for 2011 that I may look at too. Scubalong seems to have the scoop on these, like a lot of things equipment related. He seems to be able to find great deals too. I think he is a crook myself. LOL

I am sitting looking at 30 inches of snow in the dead center of Conway MA. It is surrounding everything!! I am losing my shit. This time last year I was two weeks from the first circuit of the Quabbin.
