I don't ride below 40 degrees, or above 100 degrees, if I have a choice.

It has been fricking hot all week over here. I had new tyres put on my bike today. It was a 25 min ride with traffic lights. I stupidly put the leathers on. My temp gauge today said 44C (110F). I just went outside and it was 34C (94F) and it is 9.45pm.
Coldest has probably been about 0C (33F)
Gimmie a cool day over a sweaty crotch

I think I have done 27 to mid 80s in the same day on a toy run. I don't like riding below 40 either, though and I don't have to where I live. I just wait until the sun comes up and I'm good. I don't think we have had a day in the last 6 years I've been here where the temp didn't get above 40 if you waited a couple hours. As far as highs go It never has gotten above 108ish since I've been here so that's the hottest I have ridden. And in full black leathers to boot. It was warm, but as long as I had some water I was okay.

Yer 3c is not so bad its just a good guide as our roads tend to stay wet so below 3 you can expect ice
    on the roads
As for the 47c that was a one of as I dont spend a lot of time in the south of France
I would say what we normaly ride in is 16c to 24c living in N/East UK our rides tend to take us to Scotland
    were the roads are fantastic

Here is a photo from last year in Yellowstone...it was 30F and snowing

and another at 95F in UTAH...water was in short supply!

In march and october it is pretty comon to go from low 30s to 60s but a swing like 27 to mid 80s is rare.

I could be wrong but it sounded good in my head when I typed it. I think I took pics and wrote a little ride report about it a few years ago. I'll check...

well, I found the toy ride story. I mention it being around 29, but don't mention the high for the day. I'm sticking with my original estimate for now unless I decide to do like my mom and make it even more intersting with more exaggeration!

I didnt doubt you. I was in awe. That is rare. My guess is it happens here since DC has some pretty weird weather. Winters are cold and bitter. Summers are hot and miserable. Spring and fall are combos of the two. Fall is the best riding here hands down.

As far as heat goes, I don't know but I do know it is no where near as hot as many of you here. I have been caught in -10C which is 14F. And that was fucking cold. It wouldn't have been too bad if it was just city street drivng but it was on the freeway at 03:00 coming home from work. I do have all the gear. Heated stuff and all. I find that even on a clear day or night, if it is really cold, I will wear my rain jacket if not whole rain suit. That traps the body and heated gear heat inside and blocks the cold from whistling through the seams. So long as there is no snow or threat of frost. I don't mind too much riding in sub freezing but no matter what I wear, the forehead freezes on the highway.

I went out in new joisy and had the condensation that was inside my helmet visor freeze. Musta been damn farking cold gota tell yah that. Now I went all soft living in south Florida paradise/cant tolerate that torture of cold riding. I do go out in 100+ degree days in the summer. Ah the old days of Radians, FJs, and Visions. Sheesh, the bad old 80s.

there's nothing wrong with the older bikes, they're just a bit better in the right temps but I rode my radian all summer... before it blew up lol. I'll tell you what though, I would love to fix that thing back up and ride it again, just need to find a motor for it at a reasonable price, well most prices are reasonable but it's just shipping cost twice as much as the actual motor...

Oh, I know. I just got to wondering after I typed it. I tried to check but I can't find data for that day anymore. I can say this with certainty, though. It was cold when I left the garage, and hot by the time we got back to Atascadero where I live. It's pretty common to have 30 or 40 degree weather changes during the day here as the sun comes up, especially if you are moving from town to town as each town is considered a "micro-climate" here. Today started at 40 and will be 70 in a couple hours. I'm getting ready to go MTB riding soon. It's a pretty decent place to live.
