I agree but God help us if we get as anal as some of the harleydoods.

As of 1 jan 11, my VFRF is officially twenty years old. With the exception of the dreaded R/R failures that have been beat to death here and elsewhere that could be laid directly at the feet of some dude in Japan who was a real decision maker and tossing all that decision making by committee BS aside, my old trusty has cost me so little to keep in fine fettle that I have to say it's by far the best motorcycle I have ever owned.

Unlike some dudes who have owned 11,476 bikes, have VFRs that gets 60mpg @ 180mph, tires that last 25,000 miles and get mistaken for Mike Hailwood on a regular basis by chicas with 44D racks. I am a happy camper.

If you must sell, and space, time and money are not an issue, open a bank accound for the lil ankle biter and as you sell the parts, put the money into that account for his future education. Or maybe for him to put a down payment on a bike when he is old enough. But stick around regardless. You can still stay in tune with happenings though your friends here.

Yep mine just turned 21 years old, old faithful got me stuck one night not too long ago. Looking back I had a warning regarding the R/R that melted that night. There was a bit of moulten looking crap near the plug. Anyway, No longer than 10 minutes passed and my local friend with pick up truck and ramp rescued my arse. Next day I replaced the R/R with an upgraded honda unit that was sitting in my tool box along with a new starter relay. Hands down its still the finest motorcycle I have owned and still rides better than some new bikes I have ridden. Its gona turn 75,000 miles today, its almost a one owner bike as I got it with 4000 miles in 1995/ Cheers. BadBilly I get 37 mpg on the viffer, I cant keep it under 120 mph/ EX500 I gets 48 mpg and usually ride that around the same speed as the honda but its throttle is pinned.

We are just two wild and crazy guys..;)

A few mods on mine. Better suspension a custom seat. a R/R more than once. +/- 65k miles. The durn thing just cost me seven whole dollars for the dam in the clutch master cylinder and some new hydraulic fluid. Couple of worn nylon parts here and there but thats about it.

There is a difference IMO in elective dollars spent and necessary dollars spent on bikes. In necessary dollars this bike is in the zip category.

My deal on gas is, if ya run out ya need some.. I will grant that some dudes that ride at the double nickel in the middle of Nebraska might get better mileage but all that math just takes the fun part out of the equation.

We are in sort of rare company. I think Paul Dean who is a Senior Editor at Cycle World mag and who writes the tech pages has a 91.

Pinning the throttle is fun coming out of a corner. I have an SR500 that is slighty warmed over that I can do that on. Wheee!

I was only simply stating how nice it would be to have the kind of money to own that many bikes... I rather enjoy older bikes actually i plan on replacing my 88 yx600 soon.

If you keep the 600 you would be well on your way to the 11,476 mark and becoming the next Jay Leno who does have big bucks and a shitload of old bikes.

We should be aware that if we or anyone really did have that many bikes and rode one each day to Walmart and back it would take 478.66667 days to achieve the appointed task. One might even, at that frequency, become the number one person in "The people of Walmart."

Another non-moneypit bike. Got it brand new. It was a demo so it came with a "Ricky Racer" pipe and can. $1450 out the door. Punched it out with a 90mm piston, bigger valves, ported and flowed head, 36mm Mikuni. Kinda fun.. I got a parts bike for a few bucks and the tank, sidecovers and seat cowl were in great shape. Painted those up in a different color and it takes about 10 minutes to swap everything out.

Not more than a couple of dents in my shin from not paying attention to jumping on the kickstarter when it's not on the compression stroke.. Ouch!

Stock it was red. Fixed that skippy with some Mercedes Silver about two weeks after buying it. Red again only a bright red this time with no decals. Had a reverse "SR500" cut in vinyl by a sign shop and gold leafed that using the vinyl as a stencil. Then the tank was clearcoated. The second set of cosmetics and tank are bright yellow with a red scallop that I snarfed from the original flame job used on the 1930s Air Racer, The BEEGEE. Painted the wheels red and yellow. It looks like a circus wagon.. Had little quarter fariing on it for awhile some Honda 400 bars, tossed out the old throttle for a Gunnar Gasser and some bitsas by Denny Berg before he got really famous. Talked to him once on the phone. Nice guy. Better shocks ect. You know the drill. Blew the ceramic inner core out of the Ricky Racer can and at six grand and above, loud took on a whole new meaning.. I heard it go, looked back and a semi made it FUBAR.. I just kept on truckin..

These never got what you'd call popular here. Same engine as the XTs. Tons of aftermarket things for them from Japan including tanks and bits to make them look like Manx Nortons ect. One guy in my club went all out on one. It's called "The Nipton" Bill White built it..RIP EMT guy with the Seattle Fire Dept. Hell of a rider and a good guy.

    BZ,

To my knowledge those graphics on Ebay didn't come with the export SRs.. The one in the pic is missing the sidedovers, front fender and that seat cowl and seat are not stock. Best guess is the bike shown is a 79. Mine is a 78 and has disc brakes on both ends.

I figured that SR pictured was a custom reconfigure as those were Yamaha's dirt bike stickers and colors but the color and decals were perfect for the TZ IMO.

The seat and cowl on that SR is way cool. I think the yellow is the "official" Yamaha yellow.. May be off one of those street tracker kits for the 650 parallel twins from Yamaha. Bunch of 125 racers here mostly on Honda 125 GP gear. A few are ridden by some big dudes and can present a humorous front but they go like stink and the corner entry speeds are freaking fast.. When ya get your bike finished, show it off for us. Don't put any HD stickers on it or suffer the consequences..;)

Rethinking my original statement, that might be today's best idea. Lull them other sumbitches on 125s into thinking BZs bike is a Harley and then sneak up on em and do some serious ass whuppin.

    LMAO!

I like the idea but any ponytailed-buy american-if it ain't a aircooled twin it ain't shit-doo rag for a helmet- assless chap wearing HD owner worth their salt would be able to sniff out the TZ as an imposter pretty quick BB. Remember, it doesn't take off real well. Got to get it spun up and keep it on the pipe to roll.
