    Hi all,
I may be a little prior in registering because I don't own a VFR yet, but I plan on getting one for my b'day, Mar 31 (a big one). I now have (and love) a '03 KLR, but I've been hankering lately for a highway machine to go along with it. I'm really torn between 5th and 6th gens. It will probably be determined by what's available when the time comes. My sweet spot is going to be + or - $4000. I'm kind of sold on Honda reliability because I've owned a few in the past, and currently own a '94 Civic H'back SI which I wouldn't hesitate to drive across the country any time.
aaaanyway, I'll be watching the FSs here and will post a WTB when the time draws near. In the meantime I'm soaking up the VFR knowledge at VFRWorld.
Freezing my nads off in Nebraska,
    Rich T

Welcome, gen 6 is the best bang for the buck in my opinion. Great bike with terrible resale value as of late.

    Welcome to VFRWorld from Nebraska

It can be done. I picked up a 6th gen last year. My best deal was found in Des Moines. My primary tool, Craiglook, has been shut down, but Search All Craig's - Ever wanted to search ALL craigslist sites at once? is still operating. Last year, the best deals were made in March but I wasn't ready to pull the trigger until May. Weather is a regional factor. Welcome and happy hunting.

Thanks for the tip! I've looked at some tasty examples already. Then there's this:

    2004 HONDA CBR1000RR -- FULLY CUSTOMIZED!!

    Yikes!

I always worry what something like this might ride like. For me, cool is as cool does! You must be from Western Nebraska. There is some great riding in the Sandhills and NE Colorado.

I would think a good sporty highway machine would be a must in Nebraska. Run for the border, Black Hills, Wyoming, Colorado, and lots of open road to stretch the legs. Welcome to the world. Good luck on your bike search.

I think bikes with stretched swing arms are as dumb as choppers- they must handle terrible.
Actually, I'm in Lincoln. Any ride with a lot of curves is a day away.
