    Hi all.. first post here.

I've been a Honda guy for many years, starting with a 700 Sabre, then an 86 VFR and a 94 VFR. Also had many other non-V4 Hondas. Always wanted a first gen, and just a few weeks ago I snagged this nice pair of 83 750s. Both started out life in different parts of the country but they are only 13 serial numbers apart.

One is 9+ and the other a solid 7 on a 10 scale. Both need the carbs cleaned, tanks cleaned, and a bit of TLC, but for the age and bike type, they are pretty fantastic.
One has 8700 miles and the other just over 11K.

As soon as I get my Blackbird back together I'll tear into them. Will likely sell the nicer one come late spring then fix the other up real nice and keep it.

Looking forward to all the knowledge on this great site!

How come I can never find stuff like that? What did you pay for the pair if you don't mind me prodding?

I paid 1650 for the pair, which I thought was an incredibly good deal. You tell me otherwise though.

Don't worry, they will be along shortly to tell you that you are wasting your money.blah blah blah.... but it looks like all they need is some basic TLC... you could easily turn one and keep one to ride.. as long as you know that the early years did have problems... but who is anyone to tell you how to spend your money.... good on ya... have fun with them

Nice find. I love the older bikes. Why not keep the nicer one and let the other one go? How far away in price can they be?

Thanks all. I will certainly post progress reports here. Maybe I will keep the nicer of the two, will have to think on that a bit. The lesser one has what I believe are a tank and upper fairing off an 84 (Red trim stripe) ? Also have the rear cowl with red trim stripe, which I believe is quite hard to find.

The nicer one has the oil mod done - obvious as its the one that goes on the oil filter housing. I don't believe the other does, unless its a less obvious variety.

I really don't expect it to take much to get either going. Both ran about 4 years ago. The tanks aren't rusty (not significant anyway) but are varnished up. There is not rotten rubber anywhere that I can find.

I've resurrected a few old bikes over the last years and learned about all the little things that are so easy to overlook, and I just don't see many of those issues with these.

First things first though.. my 97 blackbird is in the midst of a suspension transplant and I need to finish that before I dig into these. My shop doesn't have the room for more scattered parts!

wow, those look pretty good. That's a cheap price. Why not just keep both. You can never have too many bikes. What will your buddy visiting from out of town ride if you sell one?

Those are really great finds for the price! The tail section is a rare piece. It looks like your has been modified from the original way they came. The rear handles are not supposed to be on when the tail section is used. Looks like a nice job of cutting it though.

Welcome to the best source of 1st gen info you will find anywhere and congrats.

I just don't understand how all these low-mileage bikes keep popping up. Do their owners just look at them for almost 30 years? I don't get it at all. Mind you, one could ride without the speedo cable on these things, not that I would ever have done that back in the day....

Im not really a big fan of the older VFRs, but I recognize a good score when I see one.....good on ya....I like the one with the seat cowl tail piece. And yes, having the grab handles on a solo seat seems a bit odd, but what the heck.
