    Hi guys

I normally skip the whole introduction thing when I join a new forum, but hey, I think if this forum is anything like real bikers are in person, then friendliness & a bit of chit chat goes a long way... and I have a feeling I'll be coming back here often asking for advice on my bike.

So yeah, my story. I'm based in Cape Town, South Africa. I'm a full time freelance photographer by trade. I shoot a lot of automotive work amongst other things. (www.seagrampearce.com)

I come from a very bike orientated family. My father had a gorgeous VFR when he was still around, my uncle has an older VFR1000 (which still goes like a dream). Heck, even my aunts all have bikes, although their choice of 'chopper' style bikes is still something I'm having trouble forgiving them for. :p hehe

So as of tomorrow, I take ownership of a '94 VFR750F. Full black. Nice & low km's on the clock, and it came at just the right price. Exactly a week ago my bike got stolen outside my residence within a couple hours of being inside. So I was 'back on my feet' as I got teased. A couple days later I found the VFR750 for sale & it had my name on it. Before agreeing to the sale, I did an extensive bit of reading up on the particular model I was buying (also btw, where I came across this forum/site). Seems like every single VFR750 owner cannot bring themselves to say something bad about the bike. So I'm confident I made a great purchase.

Well yeah, thats my story so far. I think I'll actually have more 'bike' feedback once I actually have ridden the thing for a bit!

ps: I'm already like a kid in disneyland. All I want to do is customise it. Thats where you guys come in. :)

    Till later

    Seagram

    Hi Seagram

Awesome bike. Now I'm sure of at least two VFR's in Cape Town.

I do have something very bad to say about my VFR and I think its a common problem on all the generations. They seem to collect many miles on the clock very rappidly.

Once again, congrats on purchasing a real beauty!
    Enjoy!

So I've picked up a small issue with the bike.

When the bike heats up, it has this clutch drag lag. Its like when you have the clutch halfway in & put foot: all the revs & no power. Spoke to the previous owner & he said it did the same to him, and he replaced the clutch fluid & it cleared the problem up. I've booked the bike in for a service on Monday morning anyways, but I'm really hoping that this is just a fluid issue & not something serious. :-\

Yesterday afternoon I had to stop next to the road to let the bike cool down because I literally had no clutch control. Let the clutch out & it just carries on idling in 1st. Trying to go anywhere is like pushing a reluctant cat through peanut butter.

*sigh* I guess there had to be something that would creep up.

Bugger. I wanted to go riding this weekend. <grumpy face>

Oh, I also realised that the bikes odometer only counts up to 99,999km. So seeing as its on 14000km, I somehow doubt its done just that. Something I totally overlooked when I bought it. Its probably done 114000km.

    Hi Boet

    Two problems! Nothing tooooo serious.

Firstly, to stop you from flipping the bike from pull off, the simply briliant engineers (I'm also one by the way, not briliant but an engineer none the less.) have put in a controll to limmit the amount of power available at take off. Thus the engine litterally brakes when uring to much throttle at take off.

The other, some person used 100% synthetic oil to lube the motor. Fantastic for the engine but simply hell for the clutch whitch uses the same oil. Switch to Castrol Magnatech, partly synthetic and your troubles may be over. Hopefully.

Hope this serves to solve your woes, I have been where u are.

    Regards

    M
