Ive checked previous posts and the interweb on this topic.
I have been researching Heated Grips for my Gen 5.
The easiest solution for me is Oxford Heated Grips as my local bike shop has them.
I was checking out others such as Hotgrips.
Their website makes mention of Honda bikes (and only honda bikes) may require stepped spacers on the handle bars. This is in contrast to flat spacers like all others.
I think the spacers are in case the grips are too long for the bars??
My question is Has anyone had Oxford grips fitted required the stepped spacers??
If so are they readily available??
    Thanks VFRW:redface:

I have the Oxford heated grips installed have no issue except to trim about 1/4 at the end of the right size so the end piece can fit. No step spacer what so ever......

Good luck, The only hard part is to remove and re-install the weight bar inside the handle bar.

I highly recommend heated grips, and have some good input on this. I installed heated grips on both my bikes, two different brands.

I bought the first set from Kimpex, but they appear to be associated with Hot Grips now... This set replaces the entire grip with a new grip that has the heating elements integrated. They are not quite as cushy, but because of the larger (outer) diameter its not bad on the palms. It also requires an inline resistor be mounted on the LOW circuit, to reduce the power going to the grip. The resistor needs to be mounted somewhere in the open to release the heat, I mounted mine right on the fork tube below the triples, and it's ugly. Also, the setup draws full power from your battery on both HIGH and LOW settings due to the design.

Second set is from Dual Star, and I like this design much better. They do NOT replace the grip itself, but rather are a thin heating element that gets installed on the bare handlebar, and you slide your stock grips back over the element. The element on these has two circuits, only one gets hot on the LOW setting, and both are activated on HIGH. Therefore, no resistor is needed, and the system only draws the power it needs on LOW.

Both work very well, and get more than warm enough on HIGH, and depending on conditions (and RPMs?) I have to set them back down to LOW. They allow me to wear my summer gloves down into the cool temps, which is great for sport riding.

No matter how you proceed, be sure to use a Relay that is activated only when the ignition switch (key) is turned on!! You don't want to park the bike and forget the grips are still on. You'll come back to a dead battery.

Here are links for you to review if you wish to understand more...

just got the oxford hot hands last week which go over your exisitng grips and can be removed easliy I figured since winter is so short where I am these would be good. And I like my current grips as well. there is no heat adjust though so its on or off. They get hot though. Havent really had to time to put them to a good test yet.

One other option that might work for this is to run the grips in series for low and parallel for high, you'd just need a single relay and a 3 pos switch...

    Thanks boys for the input.
I do have a 3 way switch, might see how the control looks first though. Will take note of the relay. Flat batteries are okay on the ol two stroker
