    Harley guys usually get confused about what their bike can really do. While their bikes may be fast for a Harley they're still pretty slow. The confusion is caused by 2 things;

    1. Money spent to them is directly proportional to performance. It cost thousands of dollars in upgrades to get an air cooled Harley anywhere near 100 ponies. Because this fella might have spent the change he thinks he can roll past any stock bike. 100 horses are 100 horses, and horsepower to weight has never entered his little Harley mind... However he fails to realize that your bike is pretty close to 100 horses and half the weight. But he's got more in his performance upgrades than you paid for your bike. Now that's logic...

    2. Harley guys usually only know Harleys. They have no clue what any other brand bike in the hands of a competent rider is capable of. He can blow by bubbba's stock FLHSLOWCUI and it's a Harley, so logical thought is that your jap bike is slow cause it ain't no Harley. He has no real way to compare. He probably thinks that a sub 12 quarter is fast. Only on a Harley.

This fella would have to spend in excess of 5 grand USD to even sniff near 200... 200KPH... That's 124 MPH.

Hanging out at a coffee hut sounds about right. All the HD riders I know thier bikes are not the fastest or state of the art but they're still a nice ride and could care less what any other want to be knee dragger thinks.

OMG!! We have been infiltrated by harleydoods who feel it necessary to show pix of thier riding mowers.

I mean what self respecting biker type would come on and start pitching how great a ride a fat boy is?

    Only a harleydood.

Hey I just Like to Put Down Miles, Don't care what anybody else RIDES.

[IMG] This is a 1995 FLSTN, aka Nostalgia which is the perfect bike for eating up little white lines in lower AL. When I ride I wear my Olympic hi visibility mesh jacket, Yellow Nolan full face helmet, boots, and mess riding pants. Have owned Honda's, Yamaha's, Triumph's, and of course my 95 FLSTN. The 95 FLSTN is a cruising style of bike which means while enjoying the ride you don't care how long it takes to get where you're going. My FLSTN is a very reliable bike which like most Harley's has never leaked a drop. True you have to use locktight on most fasteners or they will work loose but again my bike's technology is closely linked to the early 20th century enjoying that linage is part of having a Harley in the first place.

    Ride don't whine

I'm surprised you didn't correct Bad for calling your Heritage a Fatboy but they are cut from the same cloth. I know, I used to own HD's but finally came to my senses. Do you even own a VFR? Or did u join just to defend your HD. Why join a Honda VFR forum if u don't own one. Do u have another bike besides the HD?

There are many of us on this forum, and on the road, that spend time on the track. Besides, wearing proper leathers, armour, and a helmet does not a wanna be make. So the next time you and your buddies in the bar parking lot see riders that are dressed for safety riding by, assume that those riders are trying to prevent injury rather than assuming that everyone thinks they're Valentino Rossi. It may actually be something to learn from, instead of ridiculing.

First off 200mph is not even realistic for a harley. Thats Busa, ZX-14 ect.. top end speeds. A Harley stock frame isn't made for any kind of speed and gets what I call wobbles over 110. It takes nitros to get a Harley v rod to 162 hp and then it blew up on the 2nd pass when a Busa or ZX-14 comes stock around 180 to 198 hp. When buying a Harley you pay 2011 prices for 1950s technoligy . Harley is a Image and there bikes are so out dated. I own a Stock VTX 1300C and would put it up against any stock Harley other than the V-rod . I had a Harley Dude Trashing my VTX and I kept saying Im sorry to every comment he made about his Harley. He ask What are you saying Im sorry for? I looked at him and said Im sorry you have to convince yourself your bike is more than what it is!

one of my friends was that harley dude. i said "was" because after a day of him running his mouth off i threw him my keys. (i deffenetely dont recomend doing this with harley dude lol... my bikes insured and i know my buddy would make good if he fucked my bike up.) he ran it up and down his normal back road that his harley struggles to top 80 or 90. when he came back he had the look on his face like he saw his life flash before his eyes or something. he'll still swear that his bike tops 160mph (1980 something ultra classic lol) but now he thinks mine will do 200 lol.

Some people will never change their minds about anything even when faced with hard truth. There are a number of reasons for this, but two of those reasons are:

    1. In their search to belong to something, they have told themselves that anything that casts doubt on the group thought is a threat to their belonging, and they need validation.

    2. Or, they make the common mistake that rigidity of thought equates to strength of character

When faced with either of these conditions, attempting to hold a conversation is a waste of time. You are better off cultivating the ability to recognize either condition early, pronounce them correct, and move on

I remember stopping off at a coffee shop with my old bike a maximx it was an inline 4 cyl with 5 vales per head and stock was close to 96 hp. I noticed the guy had a new Harley as we sat there ( I think it was new, well it looked like my lawn mower engine anyways) I said nice looking bike.......he turned to me and said "someday youl get there" I laughed and said you wanna go......... we went and I ate him up........ I even slowed down after I went by him but he wouldnt even come back beside me.......my 1985 yamaha maxim ate his new ride... so sweet my 1985 was more high tec than his new briggs and straton did
my 2000 vfr is faster with lots more torque than my old bike I keep looking for that guy......maybe im there now

I ride with a lot of different riders with a lot of different bikes and my old 2nd gen would stomp all of the cruisers I ever put up against it. I'm not saying that I hate all Harley's but I know that I wouldn't want to waste my money on a bike that is old school tech and a company that only has their name.
