so I got my bike's rear bearings replaced and I really like how it handles, its an 86 vfr700f2 I was just wondering about the capabilities of such bikes. I want to know how fast you guys have been on your 700's of similar make. I also want to know if any of you drag knees on these cuz I really want to try but would like to know your expeiriences w/ this bike

so everybody be truthful. lets hear about some top speeds and ear dragging in corners so I can know the limits a tad before I push them

I have had mine up to per the speedo between 165-170mph & that was as close to flat out as I've ever had it. Speedo's past 100 tend to generous; Knee dragging, never done it but I have scraped a peg feeler in tight twisties. You will & should be able to use the whole tire, I've only had the back end break loose once under power in a corner on loose sand I run Bridgestone Battlax's in the stock size. They where one of the best of there time, ride safe, ride fast & keep the rubber side down

When brand new (after run in), i got 230km / hr out of it.

Later, for some reason, I could squeeze no more than 220.
Might have had something to do with the new stainless 4 into 1 I made for it.

I have had my 86 VFR700 upto a buck forty. wind was blowing about 20 mph caught a gust from the side and crossed four lanes of slab before I could blink. It scared the crap out of me. never went any faster on that bike. it did not feel stable to me. my racer buddy he rides a CBR1000RR has had it up to 160. Metzler tires on all my bikes. I am a Big guy ,too 5'10" 225lbs

    I have an 85 VF700F

Bridgestone Battlax's on her make her corner like a witch! I stick my knee out on route 149, 31, 77, 136, and a few others. Nothing to crazy the knee goes out but I have never dragged it...

In july or august the wife went away to visit family so I had guilt free riding time and I expanded my travels a bit and got on the highway to go further north. Getting on to 293 in Bedford New Hampshire I had her purring up to 135mph... Not a very brite thing to do really... But man was it fun....

Not to worry my high speed run(s) aren't all the bright either, usually @ night & always on a highway that runs thru a county forest. Venison alley, but no side roads for LEO's to sit on & @ night I can see headlight coming far enough ahead of time(hilly terrain hard to get a radar fix). Slowed down a bit after hitting a porcupine @ 125mph this last fall.I have to admit though that my wife is often the reason behind my spirited rides, better to take my frustrations out on the VFR:tongue:

for some reason I can't see all your replies...maybe its cuz I'm a noob and don't know how to view replies....the only way I can is if I view the printer friendly version. huh. ANYWAY I"m excited for spring thats for sure. on a warmer dry december day I had my new baby up to 115mph after her oil change! I don't know if I want to go much past that though. thanks for the replies!
