Weighted bar ends for fifth gen?

Thinking about adding these or a throttlemiester. Sounds logical but want some opinions.

 

I think throttlemiester. You get cruise control, weighted bar ends and they feel and look great. Quality stuff.

 

Don't you already have weighted bar ends?

 

The ones that are on the bike now are black and the paint is chipping off. Some cheap brand I assume. Not sure if they are weighted or not, I presume not. But I know that on dirtbikes heavier material was used in some handlebars to reduce vibration and good poly bar mounts help also. Mine need replacing, weighted bar ends sound good in theory, I know the throttlemiester are weighted, but I was not sure if that was just the purpose of matching the throttle side. Do regular weighted ones work as they claim? Thanks

Go with the Throttlemeister and you'll kill two birds with one stone. They are great for a friction lock.

 

I did some reading up on throttlemiester, what little there is. Seems to be the way to go. I plan on a couple of trips this year, so I might as well make the leap now. Should match the red bike well.

They are just over a 1/3d the price of the heavy Throttlemeister. I've put HVMP bar ends on every bike I've owned for the last decade or so. I crash tested them 15 months ago & they act as a cheap slider as well.

At a third the cost, what you will get is some new weighted bar ends. What you'll get with the Throttlemeister is the weighted bar ends and a friction throttle mechanism.

As best I recall the Throttlemeister on my 91 has been on the Heli bars for about 16 years. Never a problem. One tipover that bent one bar and the Throttlemiester got a bit of a scratch.

 

Throttlemiester been in business that long? Thats a good thing, then they will have all the bugs worked out by now. Is sand ever an issue, getting into the mechanism? And one more question for you experienced guys, magnetic or strapmount, I have a strapmount on the way.

Just an estimation. My memory is good but I neglected to file the exact date, time and price of mine away. There were and have been no bugs and yes they are sealed. Can't say about sand. I live about 50' above a beach and have never has a problem. Before I moved I lived pretty close to a Sand and Gravel supply if that counts. They also sell drywall and plaster. Just in case you are in the market.
