I recently took off my rear passenger peg brackets to make the bike look a bit more aggressive. I have had good feedback on its looks. Definitely looks sportier. Question is how do I make the frame plate which hold the peg arms look more attractive? I thought about making a custom square plate with carbon fiber but if some has already made it it would save me the 4 hour project. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Ride hard, ride fast....

I have had two sets made, one set carbon fiber, another set out of 3/16" aluminum plate that I had powdercoated. I just made up a template from thin cardboard and either took it to the machine shop or sent it off to the carbon guy. Niether is cheap, but the look is worth it.

I got two small pan-head plugs from lowe's (two per side), that mat the subframe black color pretty well. They fit pretty tight, clean up the holes, and keep the threads protected. Extremely inexpensive, too.

    My two cents. Good Luck!

I too removed the rear pegs and fabricated covers at our shop and have been using them for a while.

The ones shown are made from black polished Plexiglas and I used red VFR lettering.
To secure the emblems I plunge routed a recessed area to accept elevator bolt heads. The elevator head sits flush with the rear side of the Plexiglas then they are epoxied in place. I used nylon locking nuts to secure them; they seem to have held-up well. I was concerned about vibration leading to cracking, however that has not occurred. I may have about 12 to 14K miles on them so far. The Plexiglas is ¼” thick.

Happy New Year to All @ VFR World

I used 1/8" aluminum and shaped it w/ a jig saw and cleaned up the edges w/ a belt sander.
the aluminum is from a 2" x 6" aluminum tube, if you have a glass company close by you can ask for a cut off and will prob cost you nada.
if not let me know I should have some kicking around.

plexi works great as well as lexan, I wouldn't worry about cracking, it won't unless you hit it or over tighten it.

The hardware costs $75.00. The plates were done as a one time favor by a friend of a friend who does that kind of thing.

I'm sure you could have them laid up off of your template for around $50-$75, if you can find the right person. The right side also has to be made up different because it is a load bearing structure, as it is the remote resevoir mount. If you don't have a resevoir, then it wouldn't matter.

Forgot to say, the whole setup is lighter than the weight of the stock hardware alone.

Would you or your friend still have your template, why reinvent the wheel and risk (me) screwing it up if you know what I mean

Norcal, would your friend be interested in making selling one (or more -- anyone?) sets? I would be very interested in doing this....
