2 cars and 2 bikes + everything else all organized in my garage.
Our builder agreed to throw in a free matching 2-car garage to get us to sign the deal on our house. However I wanted something a bit bigger; I wanted to make sure I was not going to be tight on space and regret it forever. We agreed I would just pay the extra cost over the basic 2-car he offered... and so I designed a deep 2.5 car garage. It is 24' deep and 26' wide, with one huge 18' wide overhead door, 3 windows, and a regular door on one side near the back. Insulated and finished, with a pull-down staircase to access more storage in the attic. It is wired for cable, and I also threw in a 220v circuit in case I want to buy a welder! I also moved my (large-ish) stereo speakers and amp out there as they were not needed in the house anymore.

I epoxy-painted the cement floor a light sand color to keep it nice and bright in there for working on stuff, and have added an 8' work bench in the back supported by oak cabinets, and am currently building 6' wide shelves on either side of the workbench, which will get sliding closet-style doors. I want EVERYTHING off the floors and put away to allow easier sweeping to keep the floor clean.

Both cars fit in with ease, with enough room that no doors are able to bang anything. The side to the right of the cars is bike parking with enough space to angle both bikes in along the side wall; any vehicle can be driven in/out without moving another.
If I need to work on a bike I can roll it up in front of the cars near the workbench area.
It wasn't necessary, but I hung strings from the ceiling so that when parking you can align the cars' rear-view mirrors under the strings; that keeps my wife from getting too far out of position and keeps my open areas maximized. But I have her park on the left away from the bikes anyway to prevent any mishaps there.

I also had them put a curved "bulged" area in the concrete driveway in front of the garage so that you can back either car out and turn 90-degrees, then pull forward down the driveway.
I waited a long time for a nice garage and I have enjoyed building and outfitting my man cave! And with one of the 4 cordless intercom phones hooked up out there my wife is happy since she can reach me if she needs me.

i live in a two family house, with 4 cars total for our house plus my bike....only way i can get my bike out is if theres no one in front of the garage or the other half is empty... luckily (in some respects) i cannot yet ride my bike so i dont need to move it all that much... going to try to build something on the side to house my bike once i get it running and need to move it daily.

Thus why I will NEVER live within a "planned community" (although I too have a bitch for a neighbor). I didn't have a proper garage (only a tool shed) until 3.5 years ago. I've since corrected the issue building a 952 square foot (two story - approx 1800 usable sq ft) garage.

As others have mentioned, most of the year I only keep 1 car in the garage anyway, but mid December - mid March I usually rearrage to put a second car in there as well.

I have a two car garage but my truck sits outside. One side of the garage has the bike, lawnmower and tools. The other side has a big screen, surround sound, couch and two chairs. It is a south thing to turn your garage into an outside living room. :)

Dah GARAGE is more important than the actual living structure.
lived places where I just had a dowco cover on my chit. Couldnt go back after garage nirvana sets in. Car lives out side everyplace I ever lived. Its a hardship in NJ, I dont know what you people in TN are complaining about. At least the dude in Rochester NY has something to bitch about. BTW it hits the sixties in south FL and its freaking freezing for our wimpie asses.

My garage lost all sense of "manliness" over the years. Like most married dudes, my wife had taken over the house. All I was left with was the garage. While my kids are a bit older now (21, 18, and 16), years ago each one of them decided that while Dad was hanging out in the garage, it would be a good time to ask him about birds and the bees stuff. I have been asked the following questions by my kids, and it was ALWAYS in the garage.

    What's a BJ?
    What's a 69?
    Why don't boys get periods?
How come I get a boner in the morning?
My friend says everyone has wet dreams. Do you?

Ahh, memories. I still get nervous every time one of them visits me in the garage...

I started laughing, then paused, followed by tears thinking of the pending questions that I have to look forward to with a Boy, Girl, Girl (10, 7, 3) combination coming up through the ranks.

I cannot stand scraping windows. I have a three car garage and last winter I managed to get three cars, two dirt bikes, a Harley, and the VFR in. Since I sold my truck and got an SUV my daughters car sits out because the dirt bikes are now on a trailer in the garage. Looks like she will learn quick how to scrape windows sincw we just received 3-5 inches of snow today!!

I have an oversized 2 car garage with two separate doors. I keep my STI and wife's RAV 4 in the garage with my bike, large Honda tractor, snow blower, 1/2 cord wood, several small power garden tools( leaf blower, chain saw, trimmer, and walk behind mower). I wouldn't say I have any extra room but I used to also have a large ATV as well and it all fit. I think my garage is 26 X 28 so it is pretty roomy. The truck sits outside, which my son drives.

We have a full size 2 car garage with a double wide single door to the front of our home. Prior to my starting school at MMI and my purchase of the '86 VFR750, we parked both her Scion Xb and my '86 Mustang GT inside at all times. It gets mega hot during the summer and in though our winters are mild, 40 degrees in the morning is ass numbing when your used to 80 for a low temp.

AFTER I started school and got the VFR, my half of the garage went to the VFR and my tools. I traded my Mustang for a '98 Contour which has NEVER seen the inside of the garage, and my girlfriend traded her Scion for an '09 Jeep Patriot which up until July/August of this year never saw the outside of the garage while it was home. Now my buddy from school is staying with us for the last 2 months of his Harley classes, and her half of the garage is full with his mattress & boxspring, his boxes and some random items we had in the house that made their way out there recently. My side of the garage has my bike, my 2 project bikes (a '90 VFR750 and an '89 CBR600), his '07 Harley Nightster 1200, my tools, and a few random items that I haven't figured out what to do with.

The funny thing is, with me working on the bikes now, and knowing that I'm going to need more room the busier I get with my repairs (Craigslist ads are paying off well) that I'm going to need more room for my work. So, when he moves out at the end of January, I'm inheriting the entire garage and both my Contour and her Patriot are driveway bound forever. The only reason that happened, honestly, is because I bartered with the owner of the CBR600 that to do a full rebuild on his engine and replace the broken mainshaft in trans, he had to use his carpentry skills to build me a custom work bench and storage cabinet, complete with peg board walls and roll out bench extenders. Since I'm upgrading the garage and adding to the value of the home.... I get the whole garage!
