Nice write up along with the pictures!!! What kinda lift do you have>? Diamond plate looks good. BTW My 91 which I have owned since 95 has the stock exhaust along with the PAIR crap with no consequences. Bike has 75,000 clams and going strong. Its an absolute bear doing the carburetor sync on these bikes, you burn the chit out of the back part of your hand. I ended up using a Snap On carb tool socket with a knurled 1/4 inch spinner. All my fancy carburetor tools might have well been used as pry bars. Cheers

i have a keldon lift that i modded.
its odd that you say the carbs are hard to sync. i have found that vfrs are very easy.. make sure you dont a have a intake leak some place.

remember the carb sync stuff is only for idle.. once you get past 1/10 of throttle turn it no longer matters.

Getting to the adjusters was difficult while the motor was hot. Made a dramatic difference on the low speed rideability. I have some brand new honda float needles I plan on installing when I pull the carbuertors. People complain about different things, I have heard that checking valve lash was difficult on v-fours. Mine was a snap compared to some other inline fours and even my little EX500. The valve covers literally just flew back on the viffer .Gota love that old Honda stuff!!! I want a Handy Lift in the future, btw i got one of those Handy Jacks like you have in your picture, real handy tool...

OH, Yeah, valve checks are "easy" after you partially drain the cooling system, unplug the fan and slip off the radiator to get to the front valve cover and (on gen 2) after you spend 10 minutes wrestling the rear cover off --then back on--cuz the subframe is about 2mm too narrow for easy, quick removal !!

But actually isn't this about de-smogging rather that de-pairing ??

gll: nice avatar !! Got squirrels ????
