I have spent the last two days building a new exhaust system for my VF1000R chopper.
The system I had before was two into one.
Front two into one and back two into one.

I t ran well but I wanted it better.
Before the two head pipes (1.25) converged and then went into a 1-3/8 tube to a slip on muffler.

Now I have each exhaust separate and the front two exit the RIGHT side of the bike and the rear two exhausts exit the LEFT side of the bike.
The tubes are 1.25 all the way.

I will post a photo once they are clamped and have the mufflers attached.
I am trying to get them all the same length. And make all the mufflers fit too.

Below is BEFORE photo showing the exhaust loop so that both exhausts were the same length.

When you say same length do you mean actual(physical) or so they flow the same. For example a 90* 4" duct pipe elbow will have the same flow resistance as a 6' straight 4"duct pipe. So your front cylinder pipes may be 30" physical length and the rears may only be 18" physical length but because of the bends they have, they may flow the same as your front 30" pipes.

so true. But how does one go about measuring the flow accurately enough to know you've designed it with the proper balance?

    Who had that popcorn?
    Here are some exhaust photos.
No brackets or mufflers installed yet.
They are on the way. I have two of the mufflers but I am waiting on the other 2.
Also: I am working on another new gas tank.
The exhaust lengths are all 30 inches. Now about the flow... A 90º bend will slow down the flow a lot.
All four exhausts have almost a 90º at the cylinder head. I tried to limit sharp bends and keep lengths equal.
When running it sounds like a fuel dragster now.

More photos when all mufflers are installed and "adjusted"

    All exhaust tubes 1.25 diameter.
    All tubes 30 inches.
Tried to get equal amount of bends and angle of bends less than 90º.
I put my hand near the end of each exhaust when running and they seemed equal.
    I used no scientific instruments.
Right side exhausts had to allow removal of right side case without removing the exhausts.
Right side exhaust could not interfere with brake master cylinder servicing.
Also the oil filter had to be able to be removed with out removing one of the exhausts.
Oil dipstick had to NOT be obstructed by the exhausts.

Left side exhausts could not interfere with the chain.
Left side exhaust could not interfere with chain or axle adjustments.
Left side exhaust could not get near any wiring or electronics.

    No.

But when I had the tank built and the inside was lined then the outside was primed,
I found out that one part of the tank was crooked and there was no way to fix the problem.
I am working on another tank design.

Better hurry the HONDA CB750's are going quick.
A very good motorcycle. And that was when a muffler did not cost $700.00!!!!!!!!

I wish all you guys would STOP buying those OVERPRICED exhausts.

Mathematics using flow priciples of pipe, make your own pipe flow bench, dyno testing, throwing chicken bones on the floor and interpreting. I never said it would be easy.

What is going to be bad is when all the motorcycles have those stupid exhausts that lool like spaceships and cost $1500. and have the passenger foot peg built into the muffler and you need a replacement and nothing else will be allowed.

That is when the buyers of the motorcycles should NOT buy designs that look like transformer toys and every part is extremely expensive and not made to be repaired.
    JUST DO NOT BUY THEM!!

Buy motorcycles that are easy to repair and the parts can be repaired. NOT plastic unless there is a real good reason.

Have you seen how much money is being asked for some of those non existent PLASTIC side covers????

The Suzuki 1400 and 800 had metal side covers. And they never go missing.

    Got the exhaust clamps today.
they are bicycle seat post clamps and I just grind out the little ridge on one side that prevented it from sliding down on the tube.
    $5.06 each.

Much better than anything in the car world or motorcycle world.
There was one nice clamp from Europe, but it cost $45.00 for one clamp.
