I've been looking at them too, send the seller a message and ask him what they are made of. If they're aluminum then I'll be getting em.

Maybe I'm crazy, but all I did was to remove said tubes, take the gasket for them and trace unto some 1/8" thick AL, cut out and drill for the OEM bolts. Apply some hi temp gasket pooky, and bolt up. Costs me about $.25 in materials and about 30 minutes time. Hardest part, removing old tubes from rear cylinders.

    Your $, your chioce.

Good point, Larry. I've done stuff like that before, I'll have to dig up some scrap metal in my garage and break out the angle grinder.

This only works if you have access to said shop, materials, and tools :ranger:

...the rest of us have to do what we can, where we can.

That said, if anybody has purchased/seen the block off plates referenced in the first post, please...do elaborate.

I had a set of 10 manufactured out of Al. I'm running one set without any issues and they use the OEM bolts. If you are interested I can load up a pic. I can let them go for $23 shipped for a pair.

I used a pair of block off plates from TPO Parts on my 6th gen. Joe. They're made of aluminum and fit the 5th gen. bikes too.
I posted pics and instructions in another thread on how to perform the PAIR mod if you're interested. There's also a link to TPO Parts website in the thread.

I simply cut the cylinder head ends off the metal PAIR hoses and braised in a section of round bar in each one before re-installing. No problems.

Again, as others have mentioned, is getting the hoses off the rear cylinder head. Mine ended up getting pretty mangled and went straight into the recycling bin.

easy to make your own out of 1/8" aluminum.
you need a round file, flat file, drill and a jig saw.
about 45 minutes to make both plates.
