New VFR owner long time fan

Hello everyone. I just purchased a 97 VFR750 with 15700 miles for $1500. Mechanically it is in perfect condition. Needs some TLC in the looks department. Mostly a good cleaning with a tooth brush and a buffer. I tend to like my bikes clean enough to eat off of. Before everyone starts in on me about pictures it is to late. I already have the old girl stripped down to the frame so no pics for awhile. It is my new winter project and will be in show room condition by spring.

A little history about myself. I have been riding since I was 16 and I just turned 35. I have owned a few bikes in my time. Here they are in order.

78 yamaha 400
82 Suzuki GS550
92 and 93 CBR600
06 ZX-10R
04 RC51 (only bike I ever regret selling I will have another one someday)
06 Hayabusa (bike I sold the RC51 to purchase:crazy
97 CBR900RR
Had to sell the last two because of cash flow problems.

The fourth gen VFR's are sweet bikes. The reason I have my 5th gen(99) is because my buddy let me ride his 96 VFR750. At the time I was leaning towards an SV650 but one ride was all it took to make me determined to have a VFR. Have fun with it. I recommend some sort of pipe as the V4 experience really comes to life when you hear it sing.

 

Welcome aboard! I feel you about the RC51. I just totaled mine a few weeks ago. I WILL own one again but I think my next bike will be a cheap track bike. :cheersaf:

Don't worry an exhaust is one of the first items on my winter to do list. I am just not sure yet if I am going to go with a Moto GP style short can or if I am going to change up the rear on the old girl then go with a dual under tail exhaust. Right now I am in tear down, clean, inspect and repair mode. Been fairly busy between church, family and my two jobs lately to get much done on the bike. I am content though because I know that it is sitting there waiting for me to fix it up. Plus I have my vulcan to ride until I get the VFR on the road
