    Would Progressive Fork Springs for a 86 VFR750 fit in a VF750?

    I'm guessing no.

The answer is actually yes. The VFR750 uses smaller diameter springs because the forks are smaller. Even though they are not correct, they will still fit the VF750. I guess it's a moot point because Progressive springs are bad anyway.

    Why are they bad?

I heard they are a great mod for the 86 VFR?

Progressive rate springs are light on the first part of travel and get extra heavy on the last portion of travel to make up. That makes them too soft over small bumps and way harsh over bigger ones - pretty much the worst of both worlds. Progressive rate springs really only make sense on cruisers where performance is the last thing to be considered.

The perception that Progressive springs are a good mod is because the stock springs are so light for most US-sized riders. Get a set of striaght rate springs suited for your weight and I think you'll be amazed at the difference (compared to Progressive). The 86-87 VFR's need pretty hefty springs, for example a 160lb rider needs 1.0kg/mm parts.

Sonic springs, they'll sell you a single rate set.

    Odd how Sonic Springs lists:

    VFR750/700 83-87

    83-87???
