No VF anything yet, but I do have a not really stock looking CB650SC....lol

Just here to absorb and listen. I LOVE older viffers, namely VF700/750Fs....but I'm just a TAD bit leery of their...issues.

Otherwise, I'd love to eventually end up with an early 90s VFR and then ride it forever.

Welcome to the group. You will find one soon enough. I think the 3rd gen (90-93) are the best. They have the 8 spoke rear wheen that everyone wants to have. hehehehe

The Nighthawks not a bad ride, but the sport model(700) is a little cooler looking. If you'd be intersted in a 85' VF700 I may be able to coerce one of my co-workers into selling. The bike was mechanic(Honda) owned from new until about 4 years ago when another one of my co workers bought it all updates to the oiling system have been done. He put it up for sale a little over 2yrs ago I was going to buy it but the other guy had first dibs. He never rides so I don't know why he bought(just so I could'nt I guess). I know it needs fork seals & probably tires under 30K; let me know what your willing to spend; the bike is in very good origanal condition. I know what he paid for it so I can negotiate just need to know the ceiling & if you'd be willing to pick it up in WI.

Oh, I love CB700S's as well, kinda wish I'd bought that instead...lol

But the roar of a V4 gets me all happy.

Heres, my bike sans new seat cover.

I can't think of any issues of viffers after the 83-86 range that would trouble you... Anyway, welcome to the group.... we're glad to have you...

another question, anyone here have a feeling on the unloved cool Honda?

I love VTRs too.....and being 6'3" and all limbs kinda makes me aim towards it and the VFR...

I don't have a ton of experience riding, so I have no idea which would be better for a novice. I hear the VTRs are.....kind of gutless in comparison to say, an SV1000 or a TL. Whereas the VFR is more grown up and...well, nicer to the newbs.

I love the V4 roar, but the VTRs sound sexy.

Hey! I resemble that remark! Except the old part...I'm remaining a Toys R Us kid.

Actually, after what I spent on my boy's Christmas, the cornerstone of the local Toys R Us should have my name on it.

Hoop, I like your 650. I remember them being as reliable as a hammer. Once you get used to riding something with modern suspension and brakes, though, you'll be shot.

VTRs are far from gutless. depending on which model you're talking about, the true VTR rc51 is a beast, depending on your body in reference to being able to take the harsh ride, other wise its a very fine bike. now the Super hawk has issues with some on how far you can go on a tank of gas, still a very fine ride and way more suited for the open road ,but it to falls short of being as comphy as the VFR

Oh, I want nothing to do with an RC51, the superhawk is the one I'm talking about, VTR1000, I know they have a weak fuel range, but I'll be doing mostly in town riding. Which is another point, I know VFRs AND VTRs are a bit portly compared to say....an SV. How do they do around town?

Welcome Hoops! The VFR is the perfect bike for any occasion so no worries. Just remember what the Gen5 did for RVFR when he was in trouble......! You should get one so it doesn't happen to you too!

anyone on here ever had a VTR? Theoretically they should compete head to head, VFR750/800 and the VTR. similar weight and power, only the VTR has about 15-20ft-lbs on the VFR.

But the VTR has reeeeally long legs...

Oh yes one can...especially when one is 24, getting a second degree and getting married.

One needs to sell ones Nighthawk and buy an older Interceptor so he can get his license again and actually get to ride.

Hell, I was already $200K in debt by that time, married, two kids & divorsed. Funny thing is I didn't even own my own house @ that time. The 200K was all in cars, trucks, snowmobiles, motorcycles, fancy consumer electronics, diamonds, firearms, student loans, divorse settlements/fees & other novelty items. Not recommended by the way, so you may very well be on the right track.
