The cams and transmission I offered were yours for the cost of shipping. Couple of days labor to put both to rest.

Thanks! I guess I'll have to call him cause I've e-mailed him before with no response.

Thanks Toe. I'll take you up on your offer if I decide to replace the cam...and if I need transmission.

Funny....I just watched Mad Max on netflix

Keyster has worked fine on my CB750 so far. I didn't use the needles though, word around town is you don't want to use their needles.

I hadn't seen that kit before. It would be nice to hear more reviews before writing it off totally, at that price anyway. I assume that the price is per carb? Would you only need one for now to get you troubled carb dealt with or are all four a problem?

I think the needles that were a problem were the midrange needles (wrong taper).

I am not writing the Keyster kits off, they work fine- I just never used the needles. I couldn't get my slide screws off to get access to them on my CB.

But, on the SOHC CB's the gurus on the forum said not to use their needles.
You shouldn't have to change out your needles anyway unless you bent them or something.

for clarification - you have a jet needle and a float needle & seat

There are a lot of 'needles' being thrown around and may confuse someone or poke out an eye.

The float needle and float needle seat (AKA: VALVE SET, FLOAT- Part No. 16011-MM4-004) is what you'll need to look into replacing.

Maybe Invisible Cities can do one of his magic photos and put little arrows on the product picture naming the various parts for you? I'm no good at that stuff.

Float needle noted below. The float needle is part of this OEM 'kit': 16011-MM4-004 | VALVE SET, FLOAT | 4 REQ | $34.20 ea.)

Thanks guys.....I figured that's what it was.

It has a little wire thingy that holds the actual float on it.

I looked at them when I had the carbs apart and I didn't see any issues with them....but what do I know. SOmething could be wrong that I couldn't tell.

I don't wanna spend money on a Float needle and seat and it doesn't solve the problem....but I guess I have no choice.

The float needles/float valve seats can be reused if there is no discernible wear (as noted by Tink) but the caveat is that it is very important to make sure that they are matched up - original needle to its original corresponding seat - if you are reusing them.

Still, given the age of the carburetors and labor involved in pulling them / re-installing and synchronizing them - when going for a full rebuild I would consider replacing all four at the same time.

    Totally get it.

The price for a set of four through Service Honda would be $136.80 + shipping.

I am not sure if Service Honda ships to Canada but if they don't, I would be happy to forward these to you. Of course, I would check with your local dealer first to see what these would cost when ordering through their service department.

Also, as an option and as noted in this thread, Billy Carr's prices are significantly less - I would take a guess and say these are aftermarket but everything I've read suggests he uses quality parts.

Stay tuned to this station as squirrelman --after some SCIENTIFIC research--will soon post some enlightening photos related to float height/fuel levels on gen 2 carbs.........
