I was wondering if anyone in New Jersey mounts there own tires, I was wondering if you could mount a rear tire for me. I was also interested in buying my own No-Mar machine so any advise would be great. I am just sick of being a slave to my local Honda dealership. Also if anyone knows of a shop that can do a rear SSSA wheel and is reasonable then please let me know.

Hi, Dino. I just replaced my front and rear tires today. There is a shop in Garfield (running his own business out of his garage) doing a decent job. He charged me $50 for both ( or $30 each). Call Steve at 973-246-4885. After I cut my hand trying by myself few years ago, I do not attempt replacing tires anymore. Not worth the time and sweat.

There's a dealer near me (Montgomery Cycle) that will mount and balance tires for $31.00 each, and $21.00 each if you buy the tires there. And he will do all he can to match on-line tire prices. Maybe you can find a dealer nearby who will do similar.

I'm about to purchase either a NO-MAR tire changing machine or something like it. I will leave the tire thats on there now that has some life albeit a little squared off but I am only going to ride about 800 miles on it before the season is over.

Just a quick note on mounting new tires: Look for the manufacturers ink stamping on the sidewall. Nothing more than a small painted dot or something similiar. Its the factory tire balance location, indicating where the tire should be aligned with the valve stem.

I love Red Bank, my friend now owns the old "CHUBBIES" bar and just remodeled it. I am in Edison now and will buying either a NO-MAR tire changer or something like it in the next few months. There are some awesome restaurants in that town.

    Lazy Dino...

I did both my tires with 2 regular spoons and the nylon rim protectors. U can do it 2. To break the bead i just bolted a 2x4 to a stud in the garage with a 2x4 hangin off to press on the tire. shazam... bead broke. then its just some patience. I got em balanced at the honda dealer just throwing the tech a tip.

I donno what the crosslinking policy is but this guy used to do a buncha people's stuff on the cheap. I've never been to him but he seems to get a lotta forum support to.

Tri State Sportbikes dot Com - got robbed!!!

Gawd./ Garfield brings back fond memories. I used to go to a shop there by the name of JWRacepart. Small freaking world. Matter of fact thats where I got my VFR from. I dont miss NJ, just McCarter Highway where I used to tear ass. South FL is a much better way of life. Enjoy ur winter.

My neighbor has professional Snap-On tire machines & I have all the necessary stands & rear wheel balancing adapter for a VFR. He does all my tires. $50-$60 (both) off the bike & $110-$120 (both) on the bike.

I live 8 miles south of McGuire AFB in Browns Mills.

    KC-10 FE out...

Comparing McCarter Highway to South FL is like comparing Roseann Barr to Jessica Alba. They just shouldn't both be mentioned in the same sentence.

Can't make it. Too much traveling the past few weeks, and too many more trips coming up. No time at home...

    Enjoy and ride safe.

Hey rustedroot. I bought dunlop bias ply for my 86vfr700f. Told the honda dealer about the blue balance dot, & they paid absolutely no attention to it at all. Now I wonder if they even balanced it.I try to not look at the dot which is 90 degrees from the stem, as i can feel my face getting red hot. They also put a nice scratch on the near perfect white wheel rim.
