I have searched a while, but cannot find any cold hard facts (dyno charts) on this site regarding actual HP / torque increases from varios mods.

There is a lot of subjective comments but I would like to see some facts.

My bike trip last week-end through the Adirondacks & Vermont mountains confirmed my initial impression that this puppy needs more power.
Actually, I think it needs more torque...it has enough upper rev horsepower for me. I just find it a pain in the ass to have to downshift twice whenever I want to bolt. I miss my VTR1000 :frown:

Does anyone have any modification advice focusing on torque ?

I don't have a scanner, so I can't show you the dyno chart on my 2004 VFR, but I gained about 2.5 percent hp and torque with the basic mods - LV exhaust, PCIII with custom map, and BMC filter. Now it makes about 101 peak hp and 54 ft/lbs of torque. The tuning shop said that all the 6th Gens it tuned ended up at 100-101 hp on the dyno.

Do the math - that's a lot of $$$ for relatively modest gains. Of course, the real benefit is the smooth power delivery. However, if you want significantly more power you should consider a different motorcycle.

By the way, do you ride 2-up and pull a trailer or something? Or do you go to the track a lot?

110 / 60 is very good, Insider. I assume a fair amount of work was done to your bike.
For 6 gens like mine, I see that 101 can be expected with common mods that can add up to decent cash.

The torque curve on Insider's graph looks nice and flat...coming in early.
The numbers are there, but do they translate into real noticeable gains in butt push compared to stock numbers ?
Did you gents play with final gearing ?

I am 42, no top speed deamon, a bit of track experience on another bike, ride one up with a tank bag.
What I want is to be able to ride the average road and whenever the urge hits, roll the throttle and MOVE !!!. Not to keep speeding up to rediculous speeds...just to feel a rush of power for a bit, then ease back to normal riding until the next sweet setof curves or empty straight. I would LOVE this bike if I did not have to downshift so much to get the rush of power that I periodically crave.
The difference I think, is the weight difference from the VTR I have become accustomed to...because HP / tq numbers are very similar. 426lbs if I remember correctly, vs 530ish on the VFR is a hell of a lot of extra weight to push.
That weight sure helps in the comfort dept though.

Duc ST3 has a bit less HP, similar torque, but weighs much less. That's a bike that I really want to try. (Would be tough to make that move though...I am a LONG time Honda fan)

I just bought this bike in the spring ( a new 2006) put on 4000 miles and quite frankly I have mixed feelings. Awesome comfort, great brakes & suspension, smooth in my daily commute to work...but I'mmissing low end torque. Squeezing an RC51 engine into this aweome frame would be my dream bike !!!

Too bad you guys don't live closer to me...it would be interresting to swap bikes for a few miles to see what I could expect with a bit of additional cash.

try lowering the gearing, lilke one tooth down in front with 2, 3,or 4 up in back.

it will feel like a different bike !!

Sorry for the confusion. My "before and after" dyno runs were performed with all the mods already in place. The only difference was the map. The first run was with the Staintune map off the DynoJet site. The second run was with the custom map from EDR Performance in Portland.

Hp / Toque before mods & Dyno on 07 VFR800A7= at sea level and 92 degrees out side temp. 78/48 . cost $250.00 for 4 hrs on Dyno. spent around $1200.00 on performance up grades and another 4 hrs. on dyno, went up real close to 100hp and kissing 60 fp toque. Dynoed on Dyno jet dyno in Santa Rosa Calif. summer time.
For me the Mods made me smile and giggle like a kid again thats PRICELESS. The sound and at the crack of the throttle you smile so big your mustache hair gets caught in ear pockets of helmet. My wife hit me so hard in back I still have broken rib that floats.
We can talk stats and mods all day long, but you Got this bike for a reason ? right?
I got it Ku's I could sit up right better than the cbr1000. It looks Great no mater what color you got. and if you got to ride it before you signed the paper you got a woody when the VTEC opened up and made you smile and giggle. So make your mods so your happy Ok Hp/toque must be consolable so some kind of programmer is needed , dyno time is spendy we have lots of selection on this web house. Enjoy have fun and read around we all can tell you what we did but it up to you to make yours yours. have fun.

Is that a question as to price or what parts? back in april fo 2007 upgrades were just coming out for gen 6 & vtec. like the first one in my area (M900059). any way 58 cycle parts had the cheepest pipes & pcIII & k & n filter. all parts to the door were$ 917.oo. all maps at that time did not help with Vetc (hole/lag) Dyno runs were 325. a pop and that fixed MY problems. I'm happy. I will share the map with who ever wants it. just tell me where to up-load it to. ( way dif. than cozye_ver.5 )

1954, I appreciate your take on the big picture of choosing to ride this bike.

Since my initial post, I have purchased & installed a set of Microns, K&N filter, PCIII using the Micron & filter map and elims. This to get a bit more oomf out of my comfy ride.

Thanks for posting your very good dyno results. If the rideability is as great as you describe,
I think I am going to be even happier with my ride !
I would like to take you up on your offer of sharing your custom map.
Can't hurt to try it back to back once the warm weather sets in, for me to
evaluate a seat of the pants comparison.
Now I have absolutely no idea how to upload it, but I suppose it would be like any other attachment ?
Could you pm me with it attached ? If not, I would gladly provide you with my e-mail
    address.

    Thanks !

    here is a stock vtec:

    here is mine:
(the red vs blue is a canned tune i downloaded vs a custom map)

here i tried to overlay the two on top of each other:

ps ive got a two bros, motad, bmc, open air box, no pair valves, no evap canister, and no velocity stacks (just rounded off entries)
i dont think my tuner really new what he was doing, he couldnt get rid of the vtec dip, but you dont feel it at all while riding it...

dont really know how much youre gonna pick up with the motad. its more about the sound...
i know my bike is relatively strong up top. im not sure what thats due to... the velocity stacks or the header....

id say a slip on of your choice. and then most importantly a power commander 3 with a custom tune, or powercommander 5 with the auto tune.
after that, the horsepower per dollar ratio... its just not worth it.
there are a bunch of little freebies you can do to keep you busy if you want, too.

i heard that just going down one tooth in the front, at most one down and one up, is supposed to make for an awesome ride with very little compromised.
