Can anybody explain or reference the process of jumping the fuel pump? I am trying to clean and recoat my fuel tank and found out the hard way how difficult it is to empty the tank. I found a couple threads that mention the process, but could not find any sort of detailed description on how to do it. From what I gather, I connect the black/blue wire coming out of the fuel pump to the black wire coming out of the fuel pump relay? I tried this and did not seem to work. Maybe the pump is junk? Any help would be great. Thanks.
Jump the blue/black wire to the positive side of the battery. The green wire is always ground , key on or off. That should do the trick.
Hmm. this didn't seem to give any life to the fuel pump. I touched black/blue wire directly to positive lead on battery with key on and nothing happened. The guy I got the bike from gave me a spare fuel pump so I'll try that later on. Otherwise, I've seen from other posts replacement pumps aren't too hard to find. This will just delay my fuel tank cleaning...Thanks for leading me in the right direction.
