In a few posts that I have provided input, I go on about the cost of maintaining my Ducati (as compared to my VFR). Specifically valve service costs and schedule. Well I had a look at my Ducati service manual and the interval for vales is 10,000km. This equates to 6,214miles. Not the 3.7k or so miles I have been harping on.

Regardless, that mother costs alot to love.

Hope this oversight has not harmed my reputation any more than my intro post

Even with the corrected math, the Duc will have received 2.7 valve inspections by the time the VFR is do for its first. Ducati can talk about improved metals and whatever else they like, but there are legitimate reasons for not owning one, despite the brands perceived cache. I know that many Ducatistas say that high maintence costs and a lack of reliability are a part of the machines "charm." I for one, think that they are kidding themselves.

    Smart choice!

Heh heh, you got that right. My "charming" 851 Duc had the "Regulator Curse"

and cost only $600 to replace it (heavy duty wiring harness and regulator).

BTW, it's for sale on Craigslist (SF area) if anybody wants a $exy ride.

If anyone is interested in the Duc you can email me directly to . . .
