On Ebay, there are a couple of sellers from Hong Kong selling full body kits for Gen 5 & 6 VFRs as well as other models.
The kits include all the plastic in a variety of colour schemes, including an intriging Repsol livery.
Ebay item#370407681346 is a typical example.
    Anyone have experience with these?
How's quality and ease of fit?

    With thanks!

I just jumped in and bought Ebay item #260636671231. Tanrush here in the forums has a friend that bought a set for his Hayabusa and they do look pretty good.

When I was looking for fairings I paid close attention to the feedback and what people wrote. One seller is claiming that the fairings are ABS plastic, but the customers are saying they are fiberglass. The seller feedback is still fairly high because they sell lots of other things too. Be aware of that.

If you can wait a couple of weeks I will let you know how they turn out. :thumb:

Like Deadsmiley said my buddy has Hong Kong fairing on his Hayabusa, very nice paint job, no runs, nice decals and very shiney clearcoat, fit is not perfect but still very good. His set came with a tank cover and the hump for about 550.00 shipped.
No tank covers for any of the Hong Kong sets that I have seen for the 5th Gens VFR's which will leave your tank from matching on most sets unless you get another tank or paint yours.
I don't know which seller my buddy bought his from.

I just got my plastics on Saturday. Initially, they look good. Unfortunately, the tail has damage to the paint and the red does not match the original color at all. Not a big deal except I REALLY don't want to repaint my tank to match these parts. I took my digital calipers and measured the plastic thickness of the fender and the original is 3.11mm, the Hong Kong plastics are 2.1mm, so they are a lot thinner. Hrmm...

I really should have thought about if I needed to return these. The shipping is $225 and the plastics cost $289. My net loss would be $450 if I choose to return them. I would be better off selling them or painting them to match the tank. Then again, if I am going to paint the bike I have always wanted a pearl white VFR. =P

I am still working with the seller. They seem to want to make things right and have offered to send me the matching paint for my tank. I will keep you posted and I will take more measurements. In the mean time, you can see the pics here:

I wouldn't send my money to Hong Kong unless I had no other option left.

Wonder why the economy sucks? keep sending your money over seas

And before anyone comments on my Honda, my Honda's have more USA mfg than my 3/4 ton Dodge truck.

My son recently bought a set of these Hong Kong fairings for his CBR600RR. When they arrive the rear tank cover mount was broken off. No big deal as it is hidden below the seat and has plenty of other attachment points. During the install, when we were fitting some pieces together, the paint chipped so easily it wasn't funny and it looked as if there is no primer underneath at all. Over the next two months the paint began to bubble and several cracks appeare. Now the paint has huge bubbled areas that look as if they are going to peel off in large sections at any time. He has contacted the seller via email and sent him pictures as there is no phone number or any way to actually talk to a person. He was told that they would replace the damaged pieces for the cost of shipping (179.00) Sounds like they are simply selling him new pieces for their cost. This stuff, in my opinion, is crap. I have seen first hand the lack of quality and you would be money ahead to spend a few hundred dollars more and buy something that is made and painted here and has an actual person that you can deal with in the event of a problem. Plus shipping cost would be more reasonable in the event of a return. This is just my two cents but be warned ahead of time that this stuff may look pretty when you unpack it but the heartache you suffer later will not be worth the money you think your saving by buying this Chinese Junque. (Pun intended) G.R.

I'm not gonna go all tea bagger and isolationist on this, but if you want to deal with an american company try here:

VFR800 fairings $579.00 in the sale section.

I also know a guy who paints a ton of the WERA racers rides, if you want his 411 drop a note here.
If you want decals I also have a connection for that, drop a note here.

One of the magazines did an article on them a while back and said they were ok. Every post I've ever read from normal people like us says the stuff is pure junk. If something looks too good to be true, it probably is. If you want some cheap stuff for track days, perhaps it would be ok though.?.

Something to keep in mind is that not all Hong Kong suppliers are created equal. If you look closely you'll find that there is more than one source coming out Hong Kong for motorcycle bodywork. Some are pretty decent, others not so much. Pretty much just what you'd find reported on this thread. It's best to find someone who was happy with their parts and buy from that company.

Personally, I would buy a set from Hong Kong but I would do some homework first.

Hey I gotta add I got a VFR set from Nice Cycle and it was way better than the Hong Kong stuff. Another member of my MC got Honda CBR fairing set from Faastfairings.com and they were also really good fit. I also know a guy with a Yamaha R1 that got a fairing set from motorcycle-fairings.com and that was also a good fitting and decent quality set. Peronally I would not bother with the cheaper Hong Kong or China fairing sets - they are what they are - cheap.

The fairings I got from Hong Kong are terrible. The color is more of an orange-red. There are a couple of spots that the paint and/or clear coat was put on too heavy and it has sagged. There was damage to the tail section (scraped and gouged paint). The black pieces that came with the rest of the fairings for the dash and the upper fairing stay were a joke. After much e-mailing back and forth I got $30 refund on $514. If I would have sent them back I would have recouped a whopping $64. Woo hoo.

Why $64 dollars? Because I would have to pay to return the fairings. $289.00 refund - $225.00 shipping = $64

Then I was sent a repair kit. The kit consisted of two water bottles. One had the orange paint in it and one had the clear coat.

I also got some "free gifts"! I will take pictures and post them up.

Whatever you do, avoid "heymanspeedmotor" like the plague.

Yes, I read the feedback. It looked pretty good. So I took the plunge.

By the time I was done negotiating with the seller, the time limit for giving feedback had expired.

    This. Sucks. Balls.

I just bought a set for my 6th gen from China and they don't fit at all. I should've done a little more research. The headlight holes don't fit right, there is no hole for the air temp sensor, all of the mounting points are just plastic welded into place and don't match up at all. I contacted them for a return and they made me send pictures. Then they said to have it professionally installed because it is a REALLY complicated process. I got mine from sellingassistantpro, I'd stay away. Luckily I paid with a credit card so they will refund my money and throw their lawyers on the seller.

I have a 5th Gen set from Nice Cycle. I thought I was getting an American product...I received pure stinking crap from Asia somewhere.

The product support guy was very helpful and all...but really...it is what it is. Stay away from Nice Cycle.
