I got lucky on this one. The guy described this bike as a "parts" bike over the phone. I thought heck, I could use some parts. The first pics are the bike in my driveway delivered for $170.

It sat under his house for 7 years. But, brakes, hoses, radiator, and even plastic was in decent shape.

Two days cleaning carbs, two days cleaning/resealing tank, new tires, and now in the last battle of the resto war with the front brake lines. This thing is just about road ready!

Pics show the bike when first arrived, my blue fuel tank hooked up the day I found out it ran with clean carbs (woot woot!!!), a trash bag used to plug intake ports overnight with the bike outside (garage reserved for running bikes only).

Waxed all the plastic, repaired tail fairing. If it runs well on the road I've got HRC decals in mind already...

you sir suck.......... by the way I know its been said here many times but ... you shoudln't take off the air filter plenum silver thing...very bad if you break the plastic tubes... plus you risk loosing little tiny springs....

    She cleaned up rather nicely

I had some serious hesitation on whether or not to tell the actual price (to put myself at risk of being hated forever on VFRW) but I couldn't help it! I will post again when brakes are repaired, etc. I got a good feeling she will run well

Im not so jealous that you found an 86 for that cheap and in that good of condition, but what really gets me is the fact that is has kerker pipes. I REALLY want kerker pipes for my 85 VF700, I just dont really like F1 pipes that where put on it before I got the bike. Nice find though, It will look sharp when finished.

I'm sure you will find some. Honestly, this bike is still pending a test run. If the #h$t hits the fan and it doesn't run properly, consider them yours

Awesome, thanks, "dude"! If all goes well this week, and I gain confidence in this bike's long ride prospects, then uhhhh I might bring it to the fall G2G.

I know, I know, the 2007 is all like "what the heck take the new one for once!"

I am in the same boat with naming my 85, I can't think of a darn thing. its a shame the only bikes kerker makes the k-series for with matching year ranges is the honda v65, the kawy GPz550, and the kawy ZX900 ninja. There are so many ideas floating in my head on how to get kerkers on my bike...

edit: not trying to steal your thread but any thought on the universal round canister?

Well the work continues. Working on painting the front fender white (the original red had faded...)

Got out today and had a lot of fun on the bike, used all of those tiny little tires:tongue:

But got back to find out... the left fork is leaking. BADLY!

good thing I've still got some wintertime left to put new seals in. AND good thing I ordered two sets when I did them on my previous 87 700 f2. whew!

You might as well change your fork springs to new Sonic Springs while you are changing the seals.

I wish I had the time and space to work on a bike, nice find though. If only I had more time, I had many opportunities to buy several bikes with tons of potential but I could because I had nowhere to work nor do I have the time...
