Remarkably, neither the motorcyclist nor any other driver remained at the scene to help.

Words fail me.

 

Just a guess but I am thinking a beer or two was invovled in this story.

 

Wow, society never fails to amaze me. The depths people will sink to is remarkably shocking.

What kinda sucks is this is the type of crap I have come to expect from the majority of the sheep out there now days.

 

Wow. God has no blind spots.

 

We witnessed a couple squids on our Kootenay Tour this summer blast by the 14 of us. The lead bike made it around a sharp curve but his riding buddy did not. He hit the concrete no post barriers and flew through the air over the barriers onto the gravel on the other side. Initially I thought one of us had been pushed into the barrier. Chomper had to chase his buddy down for a few miles to let him know his riding partner is lying on the roadside, unknown if he was even alive at that point. Chomp and the squid came back a few minutes later and the rider was fine. We all lifted the demolished brand new Yammy into a good Samaritan who stopped with his Pick Up. Found out later from one of our riders that Sqidley did not even go to the hospital to see how his riding buddy was.

Just to play devil's advocate...I wonder if perhaps some people WOULD have stopped had the police cruiser not been present. With the police there, people probably think that things "are under control", that an ambulance is already on the way, etc.

When I was in an accident years ago in Toronto, a variety of people came to help - including the driver of the van I had collided with. This was all before emergency services had arrived.

The driver of the motorcycle who left his passenger behind in this case on the 401 is of course a shit rat.

 

Fair enough Billy, but the initial report was that the passenger "may" have been run over by more than one vehicle. And if no one stopped, then that is really patetic for human kind. But if in fact no one did run over or hit this person, then your comment is well recieved.

 

Such a shame, life so fleeting

That is so gruesome it is difficult to read! Imagine the horror of the parents of that girl when they find out how their little girl met her end. They would have a pretty good idea who the driver was, I would imagine. If it were me and that was my daughter in the morgue, the dude would already be dead or running for his life!

As for the cars that struck her after she fell off, they are victims of circumstance but they should have stopped as they are witnesses and are directly involved in the. Should they be charged if they come forward after the fact to provide testimony? Tough call as we want to encourage this but they are still guilty of leaving the scene of an accident.

So there is my 2 cents as a father, a rider and a Canadian.

Huh? How do people break in two before hitting anything solid? Even at a buck 50, people don't spontaneously disintegrate...

 

I can't begin to express how little we (not all of us but more than enough) seem to care for our fellow humans. The Romans were like this before the fall of the empire but they all had lead poisoning. What's our excuse? Maybe the Freeway is the new Colosseum.
