Are the CDI boxes interchangable between an '85 VF500F and an '83 VF750S? Part numbers are different, but it looks like the wiring/plugs are the same. I am suspicious of the igniter modules on my VF500F, but can't locate any replacements for an affordable price. If anyone knows of a workable swap, I would sure like to hear about it!

I asked you if you wanted anything else when you bought the carbs! You just can't resist too long, huh (or "eh" up here)?

I do have just about one or more of everything. Two people are looking at the bike this weekend and the parts are going with it, so speak up now people!

I am sure if enough people wrote emails to Dyna they could fab up some CDI's for these old bikes for not too much.

I did write to them awhile back. Unfortunately they are not interested in pursuing this right now - at least for the VF500F.

They did forward my request to the R&D Department...

I have a set of VF400 CDI's and look like the ones of VF500 although the p/n if I recall well are different. The 400/500 Dutch manual gives for both CDI's the same degrees of advance at slightly different rpm so I believe the 400 CDIs are a compatible swap but probably more difficult to be found.

I need to determine that the CDI box is the problem. I think I may have another gremlin to kill off first. Replacing all spark plug wires and caps tonight. Also need to take a closer look at the kill switch. I'm a little suspicious of that too.

+1 on the kill switch, but the whole current path needs to be investigated.
I would start with ignition fuse then go to Bl wire, Kill switch, Bl/W wire.
