Hm....looks like I'm so fond of my Remus Hexacone Titanium I put it there twice, lol! :hail:

Got some Youtube video of the Remus and one of the OE can detached from the bike where you can hear the noise the valve makes:
    Remus
    and valve noise.

Better than a wedgie for sure! :VFR1200F:

Is that '"Ideal Motor" decal something that a dealer stuck on the side of your bike in the 7th photo?

Thanks for putting the Remus on. The original muffler hurts my eyes.

Yeah Idealmotor is the dealer I bought it from. The Remus and center stand were put on at the first service as they weren't in yet when the bike came in.

What the pics don't show is that you feel absolutely nothing of the top box when riding. It's suspended in rubber so any side winds are neutralized.
Also, the (for some) odd shape of the fairing is something I'd happily pay extra for as it's oh so effective at keeping gusts of wind from the side at bay. Yesterday we had 50 mph gusts but the bike felt nothing.
    Brilliant.

She's a beaut! As was mentioned, good on ya for putting that much nicer Remus system on. What other mods have you done?

Oh, hello, welcome and goodday, by the way. We are a little  around here as you can tell. Must be that funky stuff we like to :jason:

I've read bad reviews of that bike on hard track cornering. Sounds like you aren't having any troubles? Have you made any suspension adjustments?

PS. forgive me for not doing a web search - but I'm curious if someone would be willing to answer a lazy man's question.... Does that Remus can have that cable controlled flapper valve that closes at low RPM like the stock can on the VFR and CBR?

    Thanks

Thanks, no other mods done. And in the Futura world I think I rank on the top 5 list of modding nutcases...

No suspension issues whatsoever. I haven't even touched any of the adjusters. Especially the front is oh so spot on. It's an odd experience that after so many years of riding I now don't have to look for potholes or any other bad surfaces. I think Honda nailed it with this one.
Hard cornering? I do that. I have 1 cm of chicken strips I can't get rid of - 190 is a little overkill - just like in that 'Shamu on the track' thread. But I haven't scraped pegs or center stand. Maybe I'm a wuss but I am certain I'm cornering way faster and easier than with the Triumph Tiger I came off, with fully adjustable Wilbers front and rear. Another 750 Euro I saved by buying the Honda that does it all straight out of the box.

Couple of years ago me on my Tuono and my buddy on his Dorsoduro were chasing a BMW GS on an extremely bumpy twisty road in the Ardennes. We could catch up on the straights but that GS guy (with passenger!) just flew over the potholes in the corners as if they weren't there. Our bikes jumping all over the place. Stock suspension both of us, but my buddy does track days and runs very respectable times.
What I mean to say is, I did the same road on the Honda while breakin' her in. I'd love to meet that GS rider again there... :whip:

Like my track day buddy said: I don't get these guys. Why not take a GoldWing to the track and then say it's scary. Just wait a while, then take a VFR1200 with track-purpose suspension and brake mods (like on my Futura) and do it again.

I don't get these kinds of reviews. Futile.

The exhaust can: the cable is being detached from a servo motor somewhere on the engine and remains attached to the can when they take it off. The Remus doesn't have a cable.

Kindly take a look at this clip. Watch it all the way to the end please.
You know what that guy on that Futura said to me after the review I gave of the Honda?
Verbatim: "The looks are kinda growing on me, but the price ain't. The price is the deal breaker for me when compared to the C14, but then, I am not looking for a replacement yet either.

Nice to know that the bike is capable. The mags might lead you to believe otherwise, but coming from you, I'll take that review over the mags any time."

    Game, set, match. :bounce:

I'm 5'7" and around 180 lbs in your currency I reckon. Both feet flat on the ground on the 1200 which is yet another big plus for this bike.

Is that one of those shifty HWP questions that usually have long walks on the beach imbedded in the text? LOL

Y'all need to check out some really old bikes. Tank shifters for starters. Foot shifts on both the right and left in both one up and one down for first pattens were alll there at one time. Another item of note might be that all racing is not road racing. Right hand ( actually foot) shifting up for first and down for second through fourth was SOP in flattrack for years. Not a clue how the guys in OZ did it but foot shifting a left hand shift with a hotshoe when the lean angle is about to overcome the traction action is a bitch.

Plenty of collector and still running bikes that used the Villiers two strokes were Right (foot) and had three speed boxes.

Of interest it has not been that long since flattrack bikes were rigid and didn't run brakes at either end. Dead stop starts and once in top gear no shifting. The big change with starting to run brakes and then suspensions fore and aft were of not only necessity but a humanitarian effort. A whole shitload of novice plate holders bought the farm at the Ascot half mile at Gardena, CA. Six in five weeks I think. Another change was dropping the size of the engines from 500cc to 350cc for the OHV engines . This also put the dudes on the 750 HDs out of biz in the novice division. Harley whined big time because they really didn't give a shit who got killed.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but I think there were some Maicos and Zundapps that came with shift kits so the rider could make the decision on which side to shift. Gott in Himmel!

Some of the old Indians (the bikes of course) had throttles on the left.

I'm thinking the dude from Belgium maybe has a loose plug wire on his new 1200. Then again the argumment about HP is never ending. DIN SAE and all sorts of othrer shit like zebras and elephants anc camel all pulling some chunk of metal for a few feet. Sort of like those tractor pull rigs that are so popular.

I always thought it would be a crowd pleaser at one of those gigs to hook up a monster truck at both ends and have a tug of war using two of those tractors. Probably not a good idea overall. That crowd would want the trophy chica and the driver inside the monster truck.

So if I change my shift pattern around on my 1200 do ya think I could do a whupass on Pedrosa or just save my bike for track days? Sheeeit!

    Screen Shot 2015-09-16 at 5.41.43 PM.jpg GP Shift….
I just got off the phone with Vortex Racing.
Ordered the shift knuckle with heim joint (part # RS262XK) off a CBR1000RR. It is off set about 1 1/2 inches and should clear the clutch hydraulic line.
    Ordered 2 shift rode, a 7 1/2" and 8" because I wasn't shire which would work
For the OEM shift female thread heim joint, that is riveted onto the shift lever, I will get a bolt of the proper size & thread pitch about 1 1/2 to 2" long, cut off the head, dress the threads and screw into the female OEM heim joint.
If unable to find bolt that is threaded far enough will use my harbor freight metric dye set & thread the dang thing all the way !
When I get the parts & install will post up a DIY with pictures

After racing with GP shift the past 9 years it drives me crazy when I have to change between shift patterns.
When I ride hard I go into race mode without thinking and use GP shift.
Standard shift requires me to think about which way to shift.

This is almost as hard as going from right side shift on my 74 Laverda 750SF2 to left side shift on the 78 Ducati Darmah bevel head

BTW Vortex Racing has supported me with their products for many years on the race track.
    Good dependable equipment
    Not too expensive
AND you can get replacement parts quickly & easily !!
Which is great for crash repairs - which we have many of while endurance racing
