I wouldn't say it is better than most bikes, but it's definitely better than some of the ones out there.

I'm not particularly a fan of sport bikes as far as handling and seating position, in that aspect I prefer the cruisers ability to maintain comfort and hug the turns at lower speeds. However, I do respect the sport bikes looks, design and ability to rocket from 0-60 in OMG!

I think that the VFR is a preference thing, you have to know what it has to offer - how it runs, how is sounds, the way it handles - before you have any real interest. Sitting on the lot at the dealer they are easily shadowed by all the other models, and easily over looked. Why Honda doesn't push the line harder than they do I don't know.

We have one - yeah, ONE - VFR 1200 on the showroom floor at Apache Honda. It sits across from the 3 Can Am's and along side a side by side. If your not looking for it then you'll miss it for sure. Sad.

I like the weight while still having power. I will definatly never want to own a non sport-touring bike when it comes to sport bikes, unless it was strictly a track bike.

    of course they are!!!!

(respectfully, try to ask these questions at sites that aren't based upon model owners!)

    just kidding much love

    But to answer why?

    well...

the 1983-1987 cepters were known for being the superbike champions of their time (check out youtube)

understandably, yamaha and suzuki had great competitor bikes as well.

During those years though, the VFR owned. The Interceptor OWNED.

Ever since, honda has continued to build the bike as a separate model from their "pure sport" bike, the CBR. (not a Vee four engine)

And the Viffer has evolved into a sport bike that is comfortable. whoa. imagine.

IMHO these days the Viffer, ever since the early 90s, has been the best "sport touring" bike on the market. fast enuff to have fun. comfy enuff to take a long trip on.

That's why I would say they're the best!

It is my considered opinion that they are such good bikes the some folks should not be allowed to own them.

Yes, and those same folks would then be forced to change their screen name to "goforawalk". They would also be required to wear tin foil liners in their hockey helmets and restrained from licking the windows when riding the short bus.
