oh, and i forgot to mention that here if you go 1 mile over the speed limit, the cop can leagially give you a more expensive ticket for going 14 over. our legal system here is pretty messed up.

Edit: the judge told me this, there is a 1-5 over, 5-10 over, and 1-14 over

If you are stopped by police in any state and told you have to pay cash that IS illegal.

I am from California and one time I took a trip to Michigan. When I was returning and I was taking my rental car back to the airport a cop stopped me for a bogus reason and then told me if I did not pay $200 cash that he would have to take me downtown etc.,.

I knew this was not right. He held me there for about 20 minutes because I told him I did not have the money. He finally let me go. When I got home my girl friend told her mother who lived in Michigan what happened. About 3 days later we get a letter from her mother with a newspaper article saying 20 cops were fired and charged for graft for taking cash from people out of state around the airport.
Guess the cop must have stopped a lawyer. LOL

 

Yes a cop could make a law right on the spot. But that does not mean it is legal.

 

Well I am very happy to hear that. Thats a bull crap law that has nothing to do with anythign other than governmental profits to fuel ghramhomes multimillion dollar vacation home paid for by the government.

though i think there is a bit more to the situation than that because I read the law myself, on the books. for one the law states $100, not $200, and they are required to give you a recipt. I suspect, if they where taking $200 is they were turning in the $100, and pocketing the extra $100.

Either that or there where conflicting laws and the police department got caught doing something they shouldent have and fired the cops as a way to distract attention from what they did.

Either way and for whatever the reason I am glad any cop that did that got fired because, in my view anyway, enforcing such an obviously bull crap law shows bad character.

 

eh, we can conversate. if i did the test correctly i have a bad rr. i thnk ima penny up and get a cheap rr off of ebay. might even get it in time to go riding at the end of the month.

 

In the United states if you get a traffic citation you cannot be made to pay ANY cash on the spot. PERIOD!!!! Got that.
Even in New Mexico.

 

thats a federal law, which supsrseads the michigan law, making it illegal. it just took someone that knew that part of the law before michigan got caught. if i remember correctly the mi law stated it to be a bond which gets returned to you after you either pay the fine or show up at court. either way its a bull crap law and im glad the fed law put a stop to it.

 

anyway i did one final check now that i have a dependable meeter.

solid 14 voltes ac going into the rr at the rr plug, grounding each of the 3 wires to eachother. 14v on each wire.

14ish voltes dc comming from pin of hte rr, and 0 from the other. its definatly the rr.
