I talked with a couple of the reps from Honda at the MotoGP in Laguna. I was explaining my gripes about the throttle control at low speed and was surprised to find that they had already read my post about this from the forums. That certainly confirms that Honda does pay attention to what gets posted here.

It was also intereseting to see Honda taking surveys about the VFR specifically. This was supposed to get impressions from people who were seeing the bike for the first time and/or interested in purchasing one.

And then to top it off, they had someone calling today doing a sort of general, new owner, what-do-you-think-of-your-new-Honda, phone survey.

As I have said in other posts, I think the bike has many good qualities. How it compares to previous VFR's never concerned me because I have not owned a previous generation model. I bought the bike for my long commute and I thought it would be ideal for that purpose. Now that I have told anyone who cares to listen about my throttle control gripes, I can only hope that Honda will do something about it in short order. I don't have the patience to wait months for a Powercommander in hopes that will resolve the issue. Maybe between the forums and the article in the NY Times, someone at Honda will be concerned that their very expensive new bike launch is getting hurt by what seems to be tuning issues.

That's awesome. Thanks for sharing. I'm still very excited to see how the DCT fares.

    Ok then...

1000cc, 150hp, 75ftlbs of torque, 465lbs wet, modern suspension $12,000, VFR1000RR as per my avatar, will sell both my 999 and 92 to get one. No goofy electronics except optional ABS and traction control for $1000 each.

I second that with the addition it has to have at least a 5 gallon gas tank.

If you're gonna do that, make it a RVF1000R and build it to take on the Ape...

its called "the warm fuzzy feeling" Do the higher up muckity mucks give a shit what we think...........not really, they have the "feeling" passed down so that when the low totem pole guys see the public they can insure us that the brass upstairs is listening.......Will they listen? When the sales on the new bike doesn't meet the expected quota....we may very well see the end of an era..... I hope that it doesn't stop here in 2010, I would like to see the line go on living like the mustangs , corvettes, its called lineage and even the muscle cars have faltered Ford did it in the eighties with those goda awful cars they labeled as mustangs and chevy did it with the corvett in eighties as well.... so lets hope its a stumbling block that we (the public ) can live with and lets hope that they really are listening...... I still haven't got to see a 2010 in person. but everytime I look at the pictures it grows a little bit more on me... I still can not afford one. and I don't think that I would want to finance a bike for that much

Maybe a partial fix for your dilemma. It looks like Santa Barbara Honda has a 1200 in stock. If the brass at Honda are not watching or listening and you go in with nice clean clothes on they might let you sit on the floor model, play with the controls and do the vroom-vroom thing.

To really feel better about the prices of new bikes, Price out a new Mustang or Corvette.

This has all the earmarks of yet another epic VFRW thread :pop2:

If, as you say Deklund, Honda is indeed reading our forums and listening to what we say, then I respectfully request that they send me all expenses paid to the Motegi race where I will then visit their venerable musuem, report on their unmatched hospitality, and even grudgingly refrain from calling the DN01 the single biggest hunk of rolling nonsense to ever have two wheels and motor.

Barring this occurring, it looks like I may be forced to buy either an Ape or Beemer sportbike next.

While at Laguna Seca this year, at the Honda tent, my friend Drewl and I were perusing the lovely clothing offered for sale. We saw racing shirts, Goldwing shirts, CBR shirts , all manner of goodies. Drewl asked the attractive young saleslady where the VFR shirts were located. Then we shared a good laugh at her blank stare . I also performed an impromptu survey of my own, from a discreet distance I watched the two 7th gens sitting there. Lets just say they should have set up a Grecian Formula display next to them and passed out samples heeheheeheeee.

It's a crying shame that poor Crusty can't be there and ride bitch with you. He does a great vroom-vroom.

What is odd is that somehow the bigwigs at Honda who according to some are just there for eyewash, got that one dude into the NY MC show and the same bigwigs set Reg up for a ride. I can't speak for many of the racetracks around the country but when Honda shows up at "Mazda" (Laguna Seca) it's a class act, in both the PR and racing areas. Same thing at the CW traveling bike shows put on by Advanstar.

Thanks for the info. I test rode one and found the throttle response disturbing and the only thing about the bike that I didn't like. I hope they fix it. But also, why is it there in the first place? Is it unavoidable? Did they put it there on purpose for some reason I don't know about? Why do "we" have to discover this problem?

    Hi folk,
Is it possible that the throttle response issue is not affecting ALL VFRs?
I went out and test-rode one today and I have been quite impressed!!
I was not particularly fond on the bike prior to taking the ride and walked away really, really pleased.
I thought it was so easy to control (including throttle) and smooth with almost zero time required to adapt.
I am asking because I might very well buy one this week and you guys scare me with this issue!

There are plenty of things to be scared of on this bike. Several small Japanese men were thrown off on the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca because the driveshaft acted up and tossed then into the crowd. They lived but were ripped to shreds by some Yamaha owners.

One poor guy died of thirst trying to cross the Gobi Desert on one. He ran out of gas.

Another fella succumbed because of the hard seat. Bled to death from his piles.

I myself neglected to turn on my GPS unit, ran out of hot Jo-jos and have been jonesing for a week.
