Brought it home today, 140 mile freeway trip. I hate the freeway. Really windy at one point on Highway 680. Moved me into the next lane . This thing is pretty awesome really.

The yellow grew on me quickly. I like it. The yellow tank bra things gotta go(anybody want it? make me an offer) and I need exhaust. These things really sing with a good slip on. It amazes me how much this bike reminds me of my old '87 VFR700. Completely different, yet I can tell they're related.

As far as exhausts for the 5th Gen, you only need to know ONE word:

    Staintune

I've had 5 mufflers on my bike. The Staintune is by far the best. I even have HD guys commenting on how good my bike sounds.

Got a questions for you 5th gen gurus. How hot should it run. Hoy day here today, but not ridiculous. Little thermometer on the bike was in the low 90's. Temp gauge on freeway was around 190 up to 200. In the hills it was up around 220, and seems the fans come on around 225. Normal?

I would say normal on the heat and Staintune high pipe is certainly what you want to accent that wheel. Nice example of a gen five my friend.

Those temps are perfectly normal. There are only 2 real options you have to lower your temps. You can use Engine Ice or an equivalent coolant. I switched from the green stray kitty kool-aide & saw my temps drop about 10-15. The only other thing I've seen that has some merit is to switch to fans that blow outward instead of inward. If memory serves, RC-51 or SuperHawk (not sure which) fans are exactly the same size & will do this.

Nice bike, 680 in the east bay? A micron low mount or Two Bros. high mount is what I'd suggest. Also, like the tank bra, I kept the same red 5G tank bra on until recently when it faded out. It looks fine, great protection for the tank. Nice Corbin seat, great bike!

Yup. I live right up the hill from you, in Grass Valley. I got it in San Ramon, the part of 680 between Benicia and Cordelia is hell with the wind. I took the tank bra off and stuck a carbon fiber looking magnetic pad on. I thinks it looks better...
And if the temps are normal. then I'm not going to worry about it. Thanks for the input.

Bike temps are normal especially around here, and welcome. It's a great bike, congrats.

Lots of great roads around here. PM me if you want to get out sometime.

Since I changed my pipe to a Remus Grand Prix (high-mount carbon) I can't stay off it. Enjoyed riding it before...love riding it now.
