I've been seeing many pics of VFR's with a single seat and really like the look but cannot seem to locate any info on where to aquire said seat or who makes it. Any help. Mines a 2002.

Are you talking about the seat cowl? Or a modified seat-tail all together.

I'm not sure. I read something a few minutes ago that leads me to believe that there is a cowl that covers the rear seat?

that is correct. I believe the seat cowl has been available on almost every VFR that has been made. It makes the bike look a little more racy.

Here's my bike with the cowl on. Mine has holes cut in it, though. I think the previous owner did it to mount the givi rack or something like that...

reg71, I also mounted the seat cowl and removed the passenger pegs. I never ride with a passenger anyway. Dead weight.

BTW, your bike looks very clean. Nice. Hard to believe you had 3 wrecks!

Haven't seen an actual single seat. I have the cowl over the rear portion. Is this the look what you're referring to? Mine's an '07, so similar style. Cowl.jpg Cowl 2.jpg

All 6th gens came with a rear seat cowl, which hides the passenger seat, as stock. You should have got one with your bike. If you bought used than the previous owner may have lost it or whatever.

Here is a link for one on EBAY. You'll need to make sure that it is the proper shade of red. I beleive that you can also pick one up that is color specific for an '02 from a Honda dealership for less than $50. It could be that the shade of red was the same for '02-'05 model years.

The gen 6 also comes with covers for the "bull horns" aka grab handles . If you toss the handles, install the cowl, and remove the rear pegs (four bolts) it really cleans up the look of the bike. Well worth the cost.

    And function is KING!

My bike was crashed before I bought it, but I have worked on function - fueling, suspension, suspension, suspension, brakes. Did I mention suspension? Anyhow, the cosmetics aren't perfect, but I like a bargain that works . . . .

Well I'm finding out a lot. First, my 02 is silver so it has obviously been painted although they did a very good job. This, of course leads me to believe that it has been crashed which, upon further inspection I would say is a 90% certainty as I have found a few small things here and there that were not quite right. All in all though the bike is still in very good condition so I don't think it was down very hard. I have been correcting everything I've found, ie; loose or missing bolts and fasteners, etc. and am, at this point down to one thing. The outdoor temp gauge doesn't give a reading. I have a manual coming as I want to change all fluids (the rear brake fluid looks like dirty brown toilet water) but am wondering if anyone has any experience with this? Where is the temp sensor located? Perhaps there is just a loose or unplugged wire? Any help or advice, as always, is greatly appreciated. P.S. It came with no rear cowl but I may pick up the red one and paint it to match if I'm unable to find a silver one.

Sorry, your right of course and I realized it when I got no response back. So I did exactly that and voila! Answers. Anyway no, what I'm looking for is in the exploded view of the dash. It's the outside air temp sensor and it's missing on mine. I believe it was damage in whatever collision this bike was involved in at some point in its life and was never replaced.
