Okay I'm only getting about 150 miles per tank no matter how I drive it. At first I thought will maybe cause I'm getting on it about everytime I take off "love the remus pipe sound".
But this last tank I took it really easy the whole tank and still only got 150 before the light started flashing. I know this can't be right I've read post on here where people are getting 220 per tank I would have to push mine for 70miles before reaching that kind of mileage. And I don't think that it could have been babied any more than I did on that last tank. All that is done to it is a remus slip on as far as I know, doesn't appear to have a power commander or anything else. HELP ANY IDEA'S

have you done a miles per gallon calculation? Who cares when the light flashes? The light might flash and you still have 1.5 gallons or 50-60miles in there.

reset your odometer when you fill up. Ride 150 miles, refill to top, take miles divided by gallons pumped = ??

+1 to what tinkerinWstuff said. If you are filling up at 150 miles and you're only putting in 4 gallons, that's 37.5 mpg. That's pretty good.

That sounds right by me. Kind of a dumb question here, when you fill up are you filling up ALL the way to the gas cap? On my 5th gen when I fill it up all the way and do some super slabbing I get about 160 miles before I get 2 bars on the gas guage.

I just looked at fuelly and there is one other guy with a VF1000R (1986) and he's getting 33.3 average. Yours is getting 36, that's probably about average for your bike.

I started using Fuelly a while back and am pleased with my mileage, not that I much give a shite. I've tracked thirteen fill ups so far, best = 45.4 mpg, and average = 38.4 mpg.

I generally run 44-46mpg commuting 45mi. round trip. That is about 10% under 40mph, 80% @ 70mph and the other 10% in between. I have hit 50mpg on long 60mph trips. That is running 10% ethanol, 89octane. I get 1-2 more mpg running straight gas.

The fuel gauge drops one bar within about 10 miles of fillup. It drops to one bar with 1.5gal left and starts blinking with 1gal left. I typically fill up between 150-200mi.

My ST1300 gets about 2 more mpg. Funny that 500 more cc's gets better mileage.

I would be dissappointed with the VFR1200 if it gets such poor gas mileage. My son's '97 Blackbird with 142hp gets 40.

On my 98, it's usually on the flashing bar by then, but you can still go 30-40 miles after that on mine so that's getting closer to 200. I have an aftermarket pipe and power commander so 220 mile tanks don't happen on my bike...

I get around 7L/100kms (~33mpg) in my 98, but then I'm 6'4" / 130kg and ride usually short distances (3km/2mi to maybe 15km/10mi tops) 99% of the time. Longer distance rides are usually with my other half who's 5'2" / 60kg and still get around the same.

I just did my calcs for the Kootney ride: 1917.69KM or 1191.6mi with a high of 5.36L/100K or 43.88MPG and the low side 6.78L/100K or 34.69MPG mostly highway mostly spirited riding. with a tank spec of 22L or 20L usable I think should alow for a range of 295-373 KM or 183.3-231.77 miles before the light starts flashing. I haven't read this whole thread 'cause it's late and I don't have the time but if your running too cool you will burn more fuel check your t-stat.

Okay the last couple tanks have been more open road riding avg speed 60-70 with a little through town driving and I'm getting 38-40 mpg. But I've been very nice to the troutle so I guess thats about right. And what is this fuelly stuff never heard of it, where do you get it and how much does it cost? I've use lucas upper cyl lube but haven't noticed any mpg diff.

I haven't been able to reach 200 miles a tank for years now. I blame it on the ethanol that has taken over all the gas stations here. All highway is still ok, but still notice a lost. I used to make it to my old town with just half the bars gone. Now its almost to 3/4 the bars gone. That's no luggage.
