Hey guys I was wondering what size tire you have been able to fit on the 86 VFR 18incher on the rear?? Can I fit a 150/70 on there. I had one on my old 750 turbo and it had a small 18 incher on the back also.

I am going to run the oem rear until I win the moto parts lotto and find a complete front for a wheel swap later. Thanks for any input....

I think it's always recommended to put the stock tire sizes (for the stock wheels) on the bike

Ok...let me redirect the question...What size is the rim???...The factory recamended a 140/80-18 on the kawi 750 turbo/GPz but a 150/70 radial went on wiothout much hassle and handled great!!!

    What size is the rim???

My mistake...just looked it up..The manufactures tire sizes for both bikes are the same..130/80-18. I now remember in a bias I went to a 140/80 and then to a 150/70 in the radial..... Any comments for the viffer?

Run the 130/80/18 as recomended or swap out to a wider wheel.

Stability. The thing felt like it was going to fall over when I turned in to a corner. The other problem you'll have is that the tire won't wear correctly as you are having to distort the profile to get it to fit on the narrower rim. Pretty much every manufacturer has a line of bias-ply tires that should have a correct size. I have Avon Roadriders on my VF500. I believe Metzler's line is the Lasertec and Bridgestone has the BT45 Battleaxe (pretty sure that's what it is) series. Go here and search by size. You should be able to find something.

Sorry, no. That was a mistake on my part. As far as I know they are all still bias-ply. Changed my post to reflect that.

I was looking at these last year too but I talked to a guy I know that had these on his GS1000 and he hated them. Said they cupped in <1000 miles. I'd buy that it had more to do with the tires than his bike as he's been around power sports long enough to know if his suspension is giving out or needs tuned if that were the root of the problem. YMMV.

I have Pirelli Sport Demon Tires on my VF500 and I haven't had any issues.

Put almost 6,000kms on them so far. (over 3,000miles)

Awesome!!! Thank you sir!! That is what I wanted to hear! I like a bike to turn in fast, not worried about using the extra tread on edges for wear and I put twice the power down through a 150 on my old turbo kawi. The only time it felt a little weird was on accel out of a high speed sweeper at 15psi of boost. I know this thing wont do that with decent suspension and 85 horse. The skinny radials should make the bike transition from side to side quick!! So they will fit. I thought they would cause they are the same rim sizes..3 inch. I will put a set of avon storm ultra's on it then..

I and my buddies would ride the dang things(750turbos) on the foot pegs the tread went over so far..LOL... I dont do bias..they steer like a bus..
