Found a post on craigslist out of Portland, Or that a guy has an 85 VF500F with a solo seat cowl. Looks nice. Wish I had the money to go look at at.

Nevermind, looks like the bike has sold and the picture is not available.

I have a corbin solo seat for my VF500 but it needs to be re-foamed/re-covered

I haven't gotten around to it since I'm unsure if I'm keeping the bike.

The bike....maybe. I definitely am tired of the poor reliability of our VF's.

The solo seat....it goes if the bike goes.

Has your 500 been running poorly?

I just blew the front valve cover gasket out on my way into work this morning, so my bike is down until I can get it fixed. Gives me time to do other stuff to the bike as well since I have to drain and remove the radiator.

Yea...mine is leaking from there too :frown:

Unsure if it's from the gasket or from the bolts....I think they have little seals on them also.

No you don't. Just unbolt it. If everything is loose around it there should be (just barely) enough clearance to get the valve cover out.

Ahh, ok. I'll probably drain it anyways. I have know idea when it was last done (most likely at least 3 years ago by the PO).

I like how we've hi-jacked my own thread going from a solo seat to talking about oil leaks and such.

    Since we're talking about a hi-jacking...

I'm in the process of that as well, though mine (from ebay last month) isn't a solo seat. I'm trying to figure out a way to use the OEM seat cowl with the Corbin by doing some foam trimming, but it looks like in order for the cowl to fit and lock on the grab rail it pushes into the drivers seating area too much. I may have to settle for turning the 2 person gunfighter & lady into a solo gunfighter if I can, but that means it will have to go back to Corbin probably, instead of having it recovered and trimmed down locally. Right now the foam as it is seems good and firm. Only about 5k miles on the seat I was told. Would like to get a new cowl bumper pad in the same re-cover as well.

I'm not a fan of the color choices on it now though. Basic black works for me.

Corbin quoted me $300 for new foam and new covering (any style/material I like). Not sure if that includes the switch from 2 person to solo seat foam as well though.

Would like to see a good foto of your solo corbin though Slowbird, if you have one...

    Here's mine...

I like the solo seat from the last picture. Wish I could get one that wouldn't cost and arm and a leg.

Yeah, that's included to show what I'm trying to fit on the Corbin. Came with the bike when I got it. Whoever made it (honda?) did a nice job with it. The bump pad material is the same as the OEM seat material, which I thought made sense.

Hey man, this is just a suggestion and don't know if it would work but can you cut the back section of foam off the oem seat and cut the back section of foam off the Corbin seat and mate the two and then trim the drivers seat on the Corbin to match oem rear foam. Like I said it's just a suggestion. I would think an upholstry shop could do it.

Good thoughts. I'll bring this up with them later this week. Thanks.
