Yes and no...- according to the OEM part numbers - the front head gaskets are the same (part no. 12251-MJ8-306) for all three years, the rear head gasket for the '84 (12252-MJ8-405) is different than the '85 and the '86 which share the same part number (12252-MJ8-406).

I emailed the seller and just heard back - I think he may be mistaken on these being for an '86...one of the gaskets is still in the original factory packaging and has a part number '12252-MJ8-405-1'. He doesn't have the original packaging for the second gasket.

I think when Jaimie Machined the caliper bracket for more clearance (when you sent it back) the bolts that hold the "stub attachment" became too long for the entire assembly, poking thru the back of the bracket, rubbing on the rotor. A couple minutes work with a file or grinding wheel will bring them back flush with the bracket

Yea those "stub" bolts stick through a bit.

I'm talking about the rear most caliper bolt....that holds the caliper to the bracket.

It sticks through the DMr bracket and rubs the rotor.

Jamie, I was refering to the particular kit that slobird physically has.... it has been on other bikes of the same year . but it seems the kit doesn't like those two bikes. I brought up earlier and asked if there wa something different about the bikes they(canadians) got and the ones that we (americans) got..I thought there was . I think I would have purchased a swing arm off of Fleabay and tried to fit the kit to it before I hacked up the one that was on my bike...but thats me....I'm looking to do a wheel conversion on my 86 after I run the tires that are currently on it down to the wear bars....but mine in't a 500 it is a 700...

well, something is not right Jamie has sold 30 of these kits and not had a problem till you bought it...I'm not saying that you did anything wrong,or that jamie has done anything wrong... all I am saying is that there is something that everybody is overlooking...... like I said in the last post. I would have bought another swing arm and fitted the kit to it before I ground up the one that was on the bike...
    but that's just me..

That's true. I can see your point clearly.

Technically I did test this on another swingarm....it was just attached to a bike and rode over by Moose.

I did look briefly for a swingarm and though costs were low....shipping to Canada were high. Also, I didn't want to spend money to just end up in the same place I was before.

I ground down the swingarm cause Jamie told me that's what needed to be done. He also said that if I cut half the swingarm tab off, it's not a big deal.

I mentioned earlier in this post that when I received the kit from the previous owner it had rotor markings on it. I'm assuming it didn't fit his bike either.

After measuring our swingarm tabs and comparing it to IC and the slot on Jamies Caliper Bracket I'm going to go out on a limb here and say there is something wrong with this kit.

Yea....maybe it fit Jamies bike.....maybe there is something different about his bike.

And unless some definitive information or revelation about why the kit doesn't work it's time to end this thread.
