I was raised on dirt bikes and have been riding for 43 years. However, I just took up street bikes about two years ago on a 1989 Honda PC800. Looks like a station wagon but is smooth and comfortable and I've enjoyed it tremendously, but as in all things other than marriage, it was time for a change so yesterday I purchased a 2002 VFR800A for $2900 with 28,000 miles on it. What an awesome bike. At this point the only question I have is, what does the "A" stand for on the end of the model number? Does it mean it has ABS? Thanks for any help and I look forward to learning all the nuances of this bike and getting it dialed in for myself,

    :worthless:

Well, I also have an 02, but I don't know if the "A" designation means ABS. If the little red ABS light dosen't come on every time you start her up, you either don't have ABS, or something is wrong. I'm sure somebody round here has the correct answer though. :welcome:

Actually, if you look at the front wheel there should be a reluctor wheel (metal thing bolted to the rotor) that lines up with a sensor bolted to the fork tube I belive. If this makes no sense, take a RH side pic of the front wheel and we can see if it's there or not. Screamin deal on that bike BTW!

You got it. The "A" is the ABS designation. Mine is the 06

We Canadians use "A" all the time. Except we spell it "eh" So mine is an 06 Interceptor 800 eh?
