That is a pristine version of that bike Squirrel. Bought one for my wife 18 years ago and it was not that nice. The rotors on my gen 2 are from a VTR 250 if that helps .

Well i'm 18 and will be getting a VFR in a couple of months time when I am 19, so looking at this thread, I must be too young for one!

Age has very little to do with what you look good riding. I just bought my '07 Interceptor RWB and also own an 08 Ducati 1098 and '07 Yamaha R6. I am 63 this year and have owned fifteen sport and sport touring bikes since I retired eight years ago. Only one of those was a Harley, 1200 Sportster. Do what you enjoy and by all means developing your riding skills is a continuous acitivity.

I'm turning 50 in a couple of months. I've had everything from a Goldwing to a F4i...I do like Hondas. Two weeks ago, I bought a new 07 VFR and love it. Already installed fender eliminator, ST1300 tank pads and had a little custom paint shot (just a little black at the bottom front). I plan on keeping this bike for 4-5 years and riding the tar out of it.

Its Candy-Glory-Red, but the photos look a little orange.

I'm diggin that black on the bottom & may pick your brain on what you did. Don't worry about the picks cuz NO PHOTO will EVER do this color justice. When I saw mine in person, all negotiations went out the door. Paid $7k but with my state of mind, he could have asked for 1 grand more & I would have paid it. I LOVE that DARK Red.

Call me Benjamin Button, if you're dragging your knee on that Goldwing, you're too damn young & it's time to get a VFR.

    to young

You may be to young for a vfr,it is a very refined- powerfull-kickass-twisty road eating-all day comfort -best bike ever made, it requires years of riding smaller less superior bikes to handle one, I am 51 and on my 4th vfr 800,but I started out on the smaller vf750f,35 yrs on the road 1,000,000 kms

Hey rexbaum, I am a new member here and I have to reply. I am 61 and purchased in April a 2007 crated anniversary special. My wife tolerates my MC habit, bless her heart. While we were at the dealer making the purchase the salesman asked me if I knew what I was getting into! My wife said "What does he mean by that"? "Um, nothing at all Dear."
I approach it that age has nothing to do with it as much as maybe physical condition or other possible ergonomic limitations. I have had bikes that I ultimately got rid of because they did not fit or were uncomfortable. So far, the VFR is OK. Need to spend more time on it.
Anyway, try not to get too worked up about what others say. You have what you need. Go for a ride and make your mind right!

I see your point, but the majority of my riding is 200 mile trips on motorways, twice in a weekend. I have thought about different smaller bikes, but i am quite tall, and need something that can accommodate my frame and be comfortable for 3 hours of straight riding. Plus there is that gorgeous V4 exhaust note, which i prefer over a screaming 4 cylinder or a V-Twin!

I feel like one of the young bucks @42. My wife is apprehensive about me riding again. I may have to use the "these jeans/pants make me look fat" come-back. Hopefully I can keep 1/2 my stuff too!

I do like the look of the ST1100 as a nice big motorway mile muncher, but it's not really the bike for me! One of my college lecturers has one and he thinks it's fantastic though.

Yeah I suppose I will understand 'old guy humor' when I am an old guy myself haha.

50, I have an 06 and love it! Started out with a 03 Shadow 750. I pointed out a VFR to my wife one day. She looked it over and said "You should get one of these!" I thought she was joking. The following weekend we were driving by a dealership. We had some time to kill and she wanted to go look at the VFR again. I rode my new 06 home the next day. I guess I was the victim of a persuasive wife....:)

53, older than most, younger than some.

My wife was responsible for me also buying a Ducati when she uttered the phrase, "If you don't do it now you never will." :)

Hey, if you're riding a VFR through the twisties in the hills on a beautiful Friday afternoon....you ain't frikken old!

Re-entered riding 2 years ago when my Son-in-Law left his CBR with me while was deployed to the desert. Completely fell back in love with working on a bike. Bought a 6th gen about two months ago, reclaimed my garage, found shop manuals, brought my Metric tools up to speed and am having a GREAT time tuning in the garage and testing in the twisties.

I learned to party like a rock star in the 60-70's, spent a tour in Viet Nam and more time than I care to admit in Grad school to put my 'history' (NOT age) into perspective.

A technically advanced piece of engineering art to work on to my heart's content and a 'man cave' away from HGTV and all that crap.....what's not to make you as young as you want to be?

I've just sold my VFR800 to get a VFR1200 - I'm 49. Unless your wife rides she's probably a bit surprised with the move from a traditional cruiser style motorcycle to something that looks alot more aggressive, more akin to a racing machine she can see on TV. Maybe take her for a ride on it, empasize the reliablillty, ABS brakes, better headlights etc. I'd work on her to accept it's a more sensible bike to buy - you'll know the true reasons!
There's no point in losing half your stuff - divorce is best avoided if possible.
